If they took in consideration the playoffs Beckett would have won hands down.

But since they dont, I have no problem with it. Congrats to Sabathia and Cleveland fans. image
  • I have to admit, I'm very surprised.

  • WOW. I think Beckett was robbed. And this is from a self-avowed Red Sox hater!!!! image

"The answer was in the Patriots eyes. Gone were the swagger and c0ck sure smirks, replaced by downcast eyes and heads in hands. For his poise and leadership Eli Manning was named the game's MVP. The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."
  • Where's the love for my boy C.C? The guy was flat out dominant this year, he had a phenominal season but you're crapping on him because he didn't win 20 games? My God, wins are the WORST indicator of how a pitcher does over the course of a year--what none of you Red Sox fans would trade Wakefield's 17 wins for Santana's 15? Or how about Doc Halladay's 15?
Beckett had a terrific year, but the tribe was no where near the playoffs without C.C!

  • Beckett may have been ever so slightly better when he had the ball in his hands, though even that is debatable. Sabathia pitched 40 extra innings and that definitely made him better overall

I think Beckett got hosed, but he proved who the best big game pitcher is in the playoffs.
I think he would take a World Champions Ring over a Cy Young award any day.
  • the post season doesnt come into consideration for CY young, the voting is done before the playoffs start. CC. had a statstically identical season to beckett, but had more K's, pitched more innings and walked less batters. Beckett won one more game, but in CC 7 losses the Indians score like 13 runs total lol.

CC earned the award, though if Beckett HAD won it, i would have given my seal of approval arp arp arp! image
  • What really gets me is 2 ballots didn't have Becket at all them and one didn't have C.C on it. This is why the writters shouldn't vote for these awards.

As a Boston fan, I don't disagree with this. Sabathia had a slightly better regular season and the numbers show it. I think what really took him over the top is the innings pitched. Can't argue with those numbers, even if he did fall apart in the playoffs.

I'm sure Beckett is not too disappointed since he's sporting an ALCS MVP award and an extra ring by the time of the the Red Sox's home opener.

Beckett did have a very inspirational season..and a great one. But I have to agree that CC had the better season and was more deserving of the CY Young.

As for Lacky, all voters no doubt would give their vote to CC when he pitched more innings, had fewer walks, more Ks, and a lower whip by .07. I dont think it was disrespect to Lackey and he certainly didnt get hosed.
