The official Ebay response to a cancelled slab sale is in and not what you might think

Original post and poll.

Ebay recently cancelled the sale of a group of sample slabs and we discussed if they should. After a week and my position they responded, This email from them states the sale should NOT have been close and was done so in error.

The response:

Thank you for writing in regard to the removal of your 6 collector
slabs, Pcgs OGH, Cheapslabs, teletrade, NGC listing.

Upon further review, we have determined that your item was ended in
error. I have removed the violation from your account, and reinstated
this listing. You should receive a separate email shortly to confirm
that the listing is visible on the site. I have notified all bidders on
the item of the removal error, and indicated you are free to relist the
item. Even though the item is visible on the site, you will need to
restart your listing. To do so, please follow these steps:

1. Click "My eBay" at the top of most eBay pages. You may be asked to
sign in.
2. Click the "Unsold" link under the "All Selling" heading on the left
side of the page.
3. Choose the "Relist" link in the drop-down menu next to the item that
you want to relist.
4. Click the "List Your Item" button on the bottom of the next page.

I understand your frustration regarding this matter and apologize
for the inconvenience it caused you.

  • You seem to feel some sense of accomplishment/relief. Goodness knows what hoops you jumped through for that. Way to go.

eBay could not apologize enough it seems for some jacked-around BS they put me through recently. I was very surprised at the extent of their apology. I hope others are finding some resolution/consolation in any possible misdealings they've had with eBay recently. I do hope they continue to try and get straightened-out as I've got some holiday listings I really need to put up and would like to see eBay "get right" before I do list.

I was failry sure that I was right but more so there is a little clarification. I have seen a lot of auctions ended as a buyer and seller. Raw coins and slabs.

I feel good to know there is some else back there that is doing more than ending sales based on what the screen script tells them to do.

Nice to see with persistence the right outcome happens. Too bad it had to happen in the first place.
  • Pretty big for E-bay to make that kind of apology.
Still is messed up in what they are doing but good for you.

Interesting that ebay emailed all the bidders. I think they are hearing their customers.

I think that they are trying to clean up the mess they had. But I still found about fifteen no name slabs listed today and reported them. Hope they can get it right for both the sellers and the buyers.

Good luck on the resale of the group.

They should email the bidders, for one it is right to let them know it should not have been cancelled and also then the buyers can see tht you did list lost anything against policy so it clears your name from the bidders standpoint. Not to mention they would like to see the bids go back up.
