Ever misplace a coin and have a panic attack trying to find it?

Or at least get very distressed? Happened to me this afternoon.
I could not figure out what happened to a wallet holding 59 civil war tokens I bought years ago at an auction and a partial
pack of silver certificates. A few months ago I got new carpet for the house and I was afraid that in moving things around
they got misplaced or thrown out accidentely, I was feeling rather sick about it as I searched every conceivable place I
could think of where they could be.
Finally I looked in the closet in the bedroom and there they were in a plastic bag along with some other numismatic stuff.
A big feeling of relief came over me after that.

Apropos of the coin posse/aka caca: "The longer he spoke of his honor, the tighter I held to my purse."
I have been missing my father's Columbian commem going on five years, and when I was a boy, I misplaced an 1833 large cent for a couple of years but eventually found it.
As I was going through it all, I thought I had lost the Connecticut commem. I scowered the house, reviewed his inventory, went over and over in my head, where it may have gone.
He had it documented, but I never could find it.
It turned out he had two Bridgeport, Conn. Commems, and one was mismarked as Connecticut
Man did that have me going for weeks.
I was sure it was stolen. Looked everywhere and tore the house apart.
A year later when I unpacked a box from storage I found it in the bottom. WHAT A RELIEF!!!!!
I assume they paid for owner for the loss.

Of course. This is an integral part of numismatics.
The good part is I often find other things/coins when looking.
It had me going for about 2 hours.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
And it gets worse as you get older.

My digital cameo album 1950-64 Cameos - take a look!
Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.
In 2005, I bought an 1815/2 CBH. After patiently waiting for the coin, I contacted seller and to my dismay, seller produced a tracking number that indicated the coin had been delivered! My wife had a home daycare and she did not like the postman to ring the doorbell so (unbeknownst to me) she filled out the signature slips in advance and the mail carrier agreed to use them as needed and simply place the package in the mail box.
With my key date missing, I was in a quandary. None of the scenarios I envisioned had a happy ending. I figured I would be taking a very painful loss. About 3 weeks later, I noticed that the concrete steps to the house had shifted slighty, creating a gap. This would happen from time to time and I would ordinarily simply shove the steps back in place. This time, I pulled the steps away and much to my surpise was a bubble mailer. Apparently, my wife dropped the mail several weeks before and my package had slipped through the crack! That was quite a relief!
I sure did feel like a moron, but I was happy to find it.
If I had it my way, stupidity would be painful!
The binder was sitting under another one right on the table here. duh.
lost it for a week....one day!
