Question on Adams Dollar rotated die error

I find this coin interesting but it seems you need at least an 85 - 90 degree rotation to make it interesting and they are bringing over $300 for a decent grade (PCGS 64). Is this too much? Is there enough interest in this type of error that could cause it to appreciate in value over time? Have little knowledge in errors so would appreciate any opinions. Thanks!

  • I have one that's about 115 degrees rotated.... so I hope by the time I (ever) am able to get it certified the price is really high ~ image

Here's another question.... how does PCGS determine which direction (CW or CCW) a coin has the dies rotated??

When looking at it with the image at true 'north'.. if image is rotated right, it is clockwise, if left, counter clockwise. Cheers, RickO

Oh, I see... so there is a MAX rotation of 180 degrees then?? (Not the full 360?)
