    this is a question for, "drum roll please", platinum ron in chicago.....i'm curious too....i once found a 18k and plat combo and it sounded off as gold....hh

    Hi guys, I just went out in the yard with 3 different sized platinum and a gold band. They all sound the same with the explorer SE. I will try to do another test tomarrow once I replace my batteries. I will also check readings on my MXT, seems I remember the men's plat ring had a vdi of 20 just above nickel. I will be at the firehouse so it won't be untill the afternoon.

    Just ran the DFX with BigFOOT coil over the platinum ring. I found the ring two years ago at the beach. It was only half an inch down in wet sand (salt water). As I remember the sound/tone and VDI told me it was a nickel.
    In the front yard it just had a VDI of 24.

    The size of the ring will make a difference.
