I just saw this story on ESPN here: ESPN Story
stating that Bonds will boycott the HOF it is accepts/displays his (not true ... he doesn't own it) record breaking home run ball.
Now, I'll admit that I'm a Bonds fan. But I have to say that my initial reaction was "so what." Bonds is going to boycott the HOF? Okay. What's the next story.
I find Bonds' ability to hit home runs entertaining. Steroids or no steroids. But really, how much sleep is anyone going to lose if Bonds elects to disassociate himself with the HOF?

That way the HOF can avoid all the controversy. Instead of digging up all the steroids issues, The HOF can simply say: "Bonds is not in the Hall because he told us he doesn't want to be in it."
<< <i>I think the HOF might just take Bonds up on his threat.

That's actually a GREAT P.R. move by the H.O.F. Think about it, whenever Bonds was to come up for election, the H.O.F. was going to be in a lose/lose situation. If he gets in, the baseball fans complain about a cheater getting rewarded. If he doesn't get it, it's another Pete Rose situation where a player with awesome numbers isn't in. By leaving the ball in Bonds court, the H.O.F. can wash its hands of the controversy.
Of course I doubt they'll be this smart.
<< <i>this all presupposes that HOF voters will vote Bonds in. Not so sure that's a given. >>
Agreed. His rant may be a moot point.
Shoeless Joe is still out, same thing could happen to Mr. Potatohead.
Cleveland Cavaliers coach Mike Brown is going to be in the baseball HOF?
Buying Vintage, all sports.
Buying Woody Hayes, Les Horvath, Vic Janowicz, and Jesse Owens autographed items
So since Bonds says he wants no part of the HOF, wouldn't it be fair for the HOF to provide ballots without Bond's name on it?
<< <i>Doesn't the HOF first have to provide the ballots to the voters?

That would not completely unfair. To be fair the museum needs to seperate itself from the voters and give them autonomy

That works for me! Too bad Bonds' ego won't let it die that easily.
