I know this is dark side, but I feel more at home over here. I will post it on the world coin forum also.

A couple of weeks ago I was approached to do an appraisal fair at the local antique show. It was me with a toy collector, glass collector and general antique guy. Sounded like a lot of fun so I agreed.
I basically have spent the past two days going through hundreds and hundreds of junk silver coins, morgans and common gold. A lot of fun but really nothing too interesting for someone who collects mainly pre 1840's coins. It was a lot of fun teaching people about coins, and giving them the knowledge to, either sell them for a good price, or store them for future generations. I set up a display with about 50 late 1700 to early 1800 coins. Definitly drew a lot of attention and perhaps got some people interested in collecting.
I also got a chance to meet Musky1011 from the boards, thanks for the help.

The one interesting piece that was brought in was this medal. An elderly man in his late 80's found it while cleaning out his wifes belongings after she passed away last year.
His wifes parents were from France and until a few weeks ago knew nothing about it. I have no knowledge in this area but thought someone here could give me an idea of value for him. I will say that it is an incredibly beautiful piece, about 2.5 inches and probably close to a half inch thick in very high relief with prooflike surfaces.

I have to say that medal was quite suprising to see when the elderly gentalman sat down to ask about it

it has quite the edge hit on it
some wear but a very nice DEEP relief on this medal
