Have you ever found a coin worth $1,000+ that you forgot/didn't know you had?

It has happened to me two or three times. I opened a sealed US Mint box once and noticed about $1,000 worth of coin and currency sets I thought I had sold. image The second time was a sealed box with two Buffalo Gold coins I didn't know I had. I have since kept better track of my collection.

Found this one in the vault that I had no memory of at all.
I had to find my old notes and verify when I picked it up and for how much.
It was forgotten for a good 15-20 years.

It did kind of make my day thoughimage

Several times. Just collected silver dollars back when I could get them from banks and such (in the early-mid sixites).
Put them away for over 40 years. Several thousand in all grades. Just started looking at them when I decided
to put together complete Morgan sets. Completed one set - no '95 and am 9 short of a 2nd set (several easy to
get and cheap dates missing in this set). Only need the '94 and '93s to complete plus pic up the 7 others. But,
I never knew about VAMs when I was saving or I would have done better probably! Oh, well, completed 4 CC
sets in addition. One complete high grade New Orleans set, and One complete UNC Peace.

Put 'em away and forget 'em for 40 years seems to work well with me!

I wish I had more money to lose track of too! Every once in a while I find a coin I forgot about but usually it's less than $100.

I have temporarily misplaced my Wreath cent, S-9. image

It's lurking somewhere, unforgotten. My grandfather plowed it up about 80 years ago.
