Lincoln Cent Proposal - 2009

This idea may have been discussed here before, but I didn't see it if it was.

With the redesign of the Lincoln cent reverse in 2009, how about this: The P & D mints make the usual billion+ with whatever reverse(s) are accepted. Now, the San Francisco mint makes 484,000 2009-S VDBs with the original obverse, reverse, composition, etc. These are then randomly distributed nation wide through the usual channels.

I think it would be a great way to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the coin.

I believe the die is cast (sorry for the bad pun) on the 2009 Lincolns.

They have stated what will be made and I believe there was even a post here recently showing the various stages of Abe to be used for the reverse.

Abraham Lincoln's home in Springfield, Illinois. The only home
he ever owned. Place this on reverse and leave obverse as is.
