How do you carry them>? Do you carry them on your person or in your pockets? or what

  • When I go to shows I normally carry a small carry-on type
bag with coins and who knows what. Something small like
that might do you. I've seen people walk in with a PCGS
Blue Box in hand, fanny packs, brief cases, pull behind suit
    cases.

Whatever you carry your coins in, a bag, or briefcase,

never, never let it out of your hand , or your sight.

Not for a second. For in that single instant of distraction,

will be the very moment the unseen hand will strike, to your

    very great consternation.

  • I carry my coins in a black bag that was originally used as a "redken" hair care product gift set....it is very plain looking, but I like the fact that it is about 16 inches deep(a yellow tablet fits perfectly) and the bottom of the bag is wide enough to put a storage box and a few magnifying glasses...and If I pick up any papers or magazines at the show, they fit with no trouble!!!

  • I use a lap top bag mostly. Last year I sold off most of my Currency collection at a local show. I carried it into the show in the cardboard box that my new boots came in. Several of the dealers made fun of the box, until I opened it up at a dealer friend of mines table. Then for some reason they all wanted to buy boots. We had a pretty good laugh over this.

Coins in a brief case, Glock 31 in Fobus Holster under jacket on R side, extra mag/tac light on L side, and most importantly keen situational awareness at all times. Don't be another victim. There have been too many already!

  • I carry them in a rolling backpack, and make sure my policy with Hugh Wood has the appropriate Gold Coverage. I figure that is way cheaper than an attorney after you get arrested for shooting somebody, or even worse getting shot. Someone shows up and wants them, I figure they just got sold.

Same here. Only works if you are carrying a small number of coins.

Of course, no material thing is worth anyone's life. That said, if you can legally carry, and your life or someone else's life is placed in immediate (and in some states unavoidable) danger, you are justified in using lethal force. DEFINITELY better to have the option than not. MANY people are killed after being totally compliant with the criminal. My father for one killed someone in Balto. City who was attempting to rob him and my mom at gunpoint, very close to the Balto. Convention Center (where the big Balto. show is). He had no legal problems whatsoever. In fact Balto. City Police and the Prosecutor's Office could not possibly have been more helpful and supprotive to our family than they were. This is the rule much more so than the exception in a clearly justified use of lethal force situation.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. At least have the training and the option to defend yourself.

Anyway, I have no intention to turn this thread into a Second Amendment or other political debate. I just wanted to raise a very valid point regarding the original question surrounding how to carry valuable items into shows, often in high crime cities.

  • I use a grocery store plastic bag. Nobody pays attention to a grocery store plastic bag. Also it has the hoop handle so you never leave it out of your grip
  • I carry all of my coins in my golf cart.

I only carry coins out of a show. I don't take coins in.

  • I'm very new to coin collecting and started working with coins to grade, value, and distribute my dad's collection after his death. I took a few coins to a show to meet a few dealers and get some opinions. I had never been to a coins show before so I showed the coins to the lady at the front desk collecting money for entry. She said there would be no problem taking them into the show to ask questions. I kept them in a zippered pocket of my jacket (actually both zippered pockets had coins) and I had no problems. Seemed too easy to do this.
