Miami upsets New England this weekend?

Dont fall out of your chair laughing just yet. The Dolphins General Manager Randy Mueller calls it "retooling". For the first time in years, if players dont perform up to expectation, they get put on the auction block. This weekend you will see a different Dolphins team hit the field. For the first time this year I might actually watch the entire game because the players are going to give 100% trying to keep their positiions. Miami upset New England this weekend? Well, possibly, probably not - but I think alot of people will be surprised at the effort Miami shows.

Sure, it could happen, the Pats might be ripe for an upset. Who knows?

    not gonna happen.

And why would anyone think that Dolphins' players actually want to stay on that team?

Wes Welker will have an especially good game.

LOL, I'd sh*t myself if the game was even close at the end of the third. Miami blows in a big way. The only reason they may have a chance to win any games this year is because they play in the worst division in the NFL. Besides the Pats, the other teams (including the winless Phins) are a combined 2-15. What a joke.

  • These are pretty much the same responses that I recieved last year when I said that Miami might knock off the Chicago Bears and just a few weeks ago when I stated that USF could defeat LSU or USC.

Any team can be defeated by a weaker opponent given the right circumstances.
  • I wouldnt be shocked, I certainly didnt expect the 98 Vikes to lose to the falcons in the playoffs.

But the Falcons were a good team. The Dolphins are pathetic.

It could happen but I cant see it right now

Sure, they could win under the right circumstances. Right after the Patriots plane crashes, Marino comes out of retirement and Ricky Williams stops smoking weed long enough to play another game.

The Dolphins have beaten Brady's Patriots almost every year in Miami. Last year, they smoked them down there. That being said, it's not gonna happen this year!

  • Well,

I called my ticket broker today and picked up a pair of tickets to the Dolphins-Patriots game.

No, not because I think the Dolphins are going to win, my girlfriend loves the Dolphins and before the season even started this was the one game she wanted to go to.

He asked why I wanted tickets to this game since this was the only game where tickets were going for over face value.

    Marc.

I think there's a very small chance of a Miami upset.....but only if the "Ghosts of '72" are in the house! Other than that, the team is already starting to show signs of giving up completely as Jason Taylor has said something to the effect that he's not opposed to a trade and Zach Thomas is actually complaining about an injury...he never does that! Might want to sit the rest of the games (or a few more of them) out for the season.

Zach Thomas is one more concussion away from ending his career unfortunately. I'm slightly surprised the Fins didn't trade Taylor and/or Zach Thomas.
  • Does New England even have a second string quarterback? I think Brady might get knocked out of the game.

I think Brady will toss another 5 TD's MAYBE 6

  • I would never say it is impossible for one team to beat another, just highly unlikely in this case.

In the 1988 playoffs the Vikings defeated the 49ers at Candlestick Park. I remember the shocked faces of the 49ers players on the
bench near the end of the game, their facial expressions seemed to say "I can't believe this is happening".
  • The money line has the Dolphins as 11 to 1 underdogs. If you truly are good at picking upsets, go ahead and earn some money this weekend
    Tom
  • 11 to 1 odds are you kidding? This game should be more like 20 to 1. The biggest problem that Miami will have to contend with is New England throwing those five yard passes over the middle. For some reason teams havent figured out a scheme to stop this. It reminds me of when the Buffalo Bills used to run the K-Gun offense with Jim Kelly, nobody could stop them until the right scheme was figured out. Then it was all over.

Between betting on the game and figuring out the scheme you stand to become very wealthy. Imagine the money some team would pay you for your insight.

Teams would not pay me anything for my insight, they already pay coaches for that. But fortunately for me I'm already very wealthy.

That 1/2 pt to 17 could make all the difference, too.

Miami's got em' just where they want em' at halftime - the Patriots being too overconfident with a big lead. Good strategy by the Dolphins.

  • Good Lord, I actually watched most of that game and Miami is even worse than I thought. On the other hand, If I were a New England fan I would be highly concerned about giving up 21 points in the second half to what's (without out a doubt) the worst team in the league.

When you're up 42-7, the defense plays a lot differently than it would if it were 14-7. Garbage points are common in blowouts.

Actually, I was thinking the same thing. Giving up 28 points to what is a basically a basement team is somewhat alarming. Granted, one of the touchdowns came from a Matt Cassell pick (which in itself alarming if Brady ever goes down), but still, 28 points is 28 points.

I find it humorous that people cant just say "Congrats, good game" instead they NEED to find some negatives.

The Bottom line is you can find anything you want and hack it up whichever way you like, but at the end of the day, the New England Patriots are THE BEST Team in the NFL- along with Brady being one of the best ever at his position.
  • perkdog, wouldnt that be like congratulating a grown man for beating up a little boy. Miami was a longshot at best for an upset, I dont think congratulations are in order here.

I know, I shouldn't direct that at you personally.. Believe me I was close to 100% sure the Pats would crush Miami, I understand the "D" letting up 28 points against the Fins leaves alot to be desired but I am so pumped up about the passing game I didnt really pay much attention to the defensive part of things. I realize they were playing a weak opponent but I still am psyched!!!!!!!
  • All New England fans should be exicited about this season, it's the best start in franchise history. Not to take anything away from New England but, keep in mind, they are representing a pathetic division and six of their games are against division opponents. Let's see how they look against Indianapolis, this will be the true test.

Well people said that the Cowboys was a "true" test and we handled them ok. I believe we will be fine at Indy but ofcourse it will be a much tougher game, looking further down the road I expect a tough game with Pitt as well but again I like our chances!
