1979 Ozzie Smith What will this grade??

Hey, got this pretty nice Ozzie--going to send it in to PSA. Anyone want to take a stab at the grade it might receive? I hope the scans turn out ok.

it's really tough to see with the super white background, if I had to guess I would say 7

In order for us to have a decent look at it, you need to rescan the card with the lights off and the scanner lid up. That way the background shows up black. Also, it wouldn't hurt to make it a little bit larger.

  • How do you suggest putting this on with a great scan? I think i've seen people put them on straight on the message board. What is a good way to get rid of the white background? Maybe put a dark paper behind it? Thanks alot for your advice...

    Che,
You got it, either dark paper or leave the lid up like previously posted.

You can upload the scans to photobucket.com and copy the IMG code and paste it in your replies...then they'll show up in your post.

How about getting it nice and big for everyone to see. Can i do that through that website. There is a 50 Kb limit on these scans...

there you go... I was a rookie a few weeks ago...

Can't really see the edges... I would say strong 8 possible 9.

assuming this card is unaltered, i'd say a 9 with a definite 10 possibility. where did you obtain it? the centering looks great. a little tilt to it with some minor print imperfections, but still very nice eye appeal and 10 worthy. the white is jumping off the card...i'd slab it. the last 10 did not sell with a $10k tag but it was purchased for around half of that.

what does the back look like?

anyway you can post a larger picture or have one of the board members post it for you?

edited to say: based on the larger scan, i'd say a 9 due to the top right corner.

    Thanks,

That is far and away the best raw Ozzie rookie that I've ever seen. WOW!

    Shane

  • could be a 9 but probably an 8. i see a few minor things wrong, print spot, bad color registration, suspect corner.

Upper right corner fuzzy. PSA 8 at best. Nice centering.

I'd say 8 with a 33% chance at 9. But a great card with that centering.
