Cast? Counterfeit 1911 Barber Half

StrikeOutXXXStrikeOutXXX Posts: 3,352 ✭✭✭✭✭
I know there is a subculture here that enjoys these, so when I found it fairly cheap in a token book (Clearly marked counterfeit) at a local show, I said why not. Not sure why anyone would fake a 1911 though. I don't think this would fool many people, it is strangely speckled and weights only 10.16 grams. Anyhow, here you go.

Yep... that one is pretty obvious... must have been a practice piece. Cheers, RickO

It may simply be a contemporary counterfeit that was used to buy dinner in the depression of the 1930s.

Agree. Was probably originally silver plated to look real.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

    That's $10.50 in today's money. I'm sure people today make fake $10's.

Neat site StopMotion, feel free to use the pics from this coin on there if you want.

Good point Tom, I always jump to the conclusion of counterfeits being used in the collectible coins market only. I completely forgot that someone might forge/create them to use AT FACE VALUE image
