After last year, nothing would surprise me. I am pulling for Rowand and Tada to do well.

I am for the Dbacks. My older son, who is not an Arizona fan, bet $20 at the start of the season that they would win the NL (at 18-1).

  • Hey it's only game 1, but on the other hand the Rockos are extremely hot.

Sorry SteveK, that was a major hit for the Phillies today. Your pitching is limited and your bats seem cold. Not a good combo being one down

  • I wonder if Utley and Howard borrowed the Mets noose or did they make their own ?

Pretty tough to bet against a team that has won 15 out of 16, momentum is a crazy thing.

    Amazing run by the Rockies.

    Stevek,

Too bad you guys had to eliminate the Mets like that, you'd have a much better shot at reaching the Series playing them! image

I performed many hours of research last night and brought in a panel of some of the most highly intelligent sports minds in Philadelphia, and we concluded that the real reason the Phillies didn't win yesterday was that I didn't root hard enough. I take full responsibility for that but today I'm gonna root harder so that the Phillies win this game.

We start again anew today. But the Phillies got 'em right where we want 'em anyway - coming from behind just like we did with the Mets. The Rockies are hot and I would have rather faced the Cubs or the Padres...but we're gonna win this series anyway.

    Final score today:

    Phillies 7
    Rockies 3

Phils have never won a playoff series after losing game one, looks like Rocks will be representing a very weak NL in the Series this year.

Rockies seem to be the team of destiny this year, since they went to 3 divisions and added the goofy wild card team, seems we've seen this over and over.

Momentum carries Rock's to the Series.

Ouch a former Mets comes back to haunt the Phillies. I think Steve got the scores reversed.

Wow, didn't expect this. I was hoping for a good series, I like both Holliday and Howard but the Rockies seem to have their number.

Matzui is a single away from the cycle, has anyone hit for the cycle in the post season?

No chance, zero - it's over. Turn out the lights....

It was a good run at the end of the season but as usual for a Philly fan, a day or so of joy, followed by years of misery. Nothing changes. Same old chit, over and f*ing over and f*ing over and f*ing over again.

How the freak does Jose Mesa still have a job? This guy sucks everytime he touches the ball. What a waste of all that offense. Phillies
are too damn cheap. I hope they trade Hamels so he can go on and win 20 with another team and actually get a ring.

  • Come on Phillies. I want to see a good series. You worked too hard to get knocked out so soon.

I am in California chained to my desk doing work without a radio. Just logged onto and checked this thread. I can only assume the Rockies have won game two?

If so, way to go Rockies. Second playoff appearance ever and the first in 12 years.

Their late season drive to just get to the playoffs and getting in after winning a play in game with the Padres reminds me of the Golden State Warriors last spring getting hot and winning a playoff spot for the first time in 13 years on the last game of the regular season. Then they upset the #1 seed Dallas Mavericks in round 1 of the playoffs. It was fun to watch the drama unfold as a perennial doormat finally got into the postseason party and made some noise. Deja Vu with the Rockies.
