Is it from the Topps reprint set from the 80s?? Not sure if the back of the reprint set stated anything about it being a reprint.

I like the metric question. Quality stuff.
  • Lolz, it seems somewhat of a setup to reprint the 52's without SOME sort of visible indicator. Seems like a serious ground for fraud.

But if this guy is not full of it - could you imagine getting it for <$500!

I mean, finding vintage cards has to be fairly common - we found dad's 61's and 62's years ago, was like finding a stack of 100 dollar bills.

I still want to hunt through grandma's house (will never happen while she's alive) and find all sorts of old crap to sell on ebay...I am interested to know what might have value...

And how would you Know ??????

No question it is a reprint..... image

I find it amazing that the sellers tells everyone that it is a reprint and nobody seems to care, they just keep on bidding... image

  • I can't see how it's a fake, sorry. The 1983 reprint set states "Topps 1952 Reprint Series" on the back where it says "Topps Baseball" on the original. What year would this reprint set have come out? It's not the 1983 set. It looks legit, unless someone can otherwise show me how it's not....not that anyone is required to or anything, I'm just saying. However, one thing I have learned that if it is too good to be true, it usually is. Anyone else know where this set is from if it's not the original.

It's a BLATANT FAKE...he's even selling it as a fake. That should be everyone's first clue. Here's a comparison:

Like cravetopps said, check out the positioning of the Yankees logo in relation to Mickey's bat. On the real one, the square barely touches the bat. On the fake, it's in a considerably different position. The bats are also completely different shades of yellow.

you should perhaps set your snipe just in case; it may be artifactual.
  • Good morning,
Maybe it's time for some education. I had somebody approach me about a year ago off E-bay to do a deal on one of these and I passed because I din't know anything about this card.
    So, Please educate me.
Even after reading the thread I am confused.
When you say the card is Fake, is that Fake as in Counterfeit ? Fake as in Some other reprint set ? Fake as in ??? In reading I hear that there is a 1982 Reprint set that clearly states it ia a reprint on the bottom of the back. Are there other legitimate reprints that don't state this ?? Is somebody printing these and trying to sell them as legitimate ?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

It's the rare logo on bat version. Set the snipes high.

Topps marks all their reprints as reprints. The only people who don't are people making FAKE cards that are to be pawned off as real. Even though the guy is going on about how it's a fake the little story about taking it to a card shop and being offered 100 bucks and the guy kept calling is classic card scammer technique.

Not sure why. The seller did list it as a reprint...or does it have to say "reprint" in the title, too?

Either way, if the buyers are dumb enough to bid that much without reading the description, it's hard for me to feel sorry for them.
