Player set - play years

I just had a set added - Lee Roy Selmon. PSA put his play years as 76-84. This leaves his 85 cards out.

Selmon was on the Bucs for the 85 season, but did not play because of injury. The Bucs web site has him listed as 76-85, with the statement a player needed to be on the active roster, but not necessarily play in a game to be included.

What are my chances for getting PSA to add his 85 card and sticker?

Thanks,
Derek

I was always under the impression that player sets included cards from one year after the player's career ended so that final cards could be included. Now, this could have changed without me paying much attention but I'm sure this is how it was handled in the past.

A master player set should include any card of that player regardless of when then card was printed, in my opinion.

I would think your chances of adding this card are very good.
  • PSA will add the year after retirement if it includes the prior year stats on the back. 1981 Griese and 1979 Staubachs are good examples.
  • that is correct. PSA lists Al Oliver's playing years up to 1985. I have a 1986 with his stats on it. BJ has said that all you have to do is request the card to be added to the set, and ensure that the card does have the player's stats.
I collect PSA graded 1980-81 Basketball.
