I may have sold some reprints accidentally.

I have been selling some cards on ebay over the past few weeks and I got an e-mail that says that one of the cards I sold him was a reprint. I sold the card for $10 and I will definitely refund him the money, but bought 4 cards in the lot from this one guy. Do I need to e-mail the other 3 buyers to tell them to check to make sure that they their cards aren't reprints? I'm a little embarressed, but I bought all 4 cards for no more that $20 bucks. Who would go to the trouble to doctor up cards for $20? What should I do?

There are a lot of 33 reprints and they don't always say reprint on them. Also sometimes the word reprint gets accidently erased or stained and you can't tell it's there any more.

It probably wasn't malicious, there were just so many and it's hard to tell it's a reprint. I had a 34 goudey carl hubbell and somebody here spent an hour with me one saturday morning helping me to tell the difference.

I think offer a refund to the others including shipping, explain it's possibly a reprint and you don't want to cheat anybody. It's the right thing to do and nobody can get mad at you for being honest (somebody probably will!)

    Ryan,

Offer a refund and let them keep the cards as long as they send you some Monopoly money... by the way, what can I get for $10,000 in Monopoly money?

It was an honest mistake and anyone who thinks otherwise are crappy customers in the first place. If you come to them, especially if they haven't realized it yet, and let them know that there is a chance that it is a reprint, offer a full refund including shipping, I think you will be fine. I know I would not hold it against you at all. These things happen.

One more reason I like selling graded cards. Removes the risk of this kind of problem.

Assuming they were all small dollars just refund, explain and move on.

    Good luck to you.
  • This is understandable and happens from time to time.

I think we've all made a few mistakes as sellers.

On a couple of occasions, for instance, I have mailed the wrong card.

Had it not been for honest ebayers, this could have been disastrous.

Just explain the situation as you've done here.

Keep us posted. And quit trying to scam people with reprints!!!!image

    Ryan,

Do you have any 1988 Donruss reprints for sale?

  • There is the chance the mistake is on the part of the buyer. Do you still have a scan of it?
