Next 10 or 20 OLD Time Basketball players that will make Hall of Fame status

Hi, I was wondering if anybody knows who will be next in line for the Basketball Hall of Fame? Who do you think or now will get into the Basketball HOF next? I'm talking about "old time" players. I'm not sure how they pick them so I was wondering maybe somebody knows the process and maybe you know who will be going in next or at least going into the votes as one of the players/coachs that has a chance to get into the HOF? Any help is appreciatedimage

  • Anybody know Basketball?
  • Basketball Hall-of-Fame is less than 40 miles from where I live, so I visit occasionally. Giving someone a plaque is completely capricious

Every year it's more and more coaches, pioneers, a few referees, an ok player with a compelling story. Obviously these people should be celebrated, appreciated, learned from and studied. But enshrinement in the Hall-of-Fame needs to focus most heavily on people who could actually do something great with a basketball in their hands. Sadly it has become so watered down by arbitrary choices that it hard to see it as a truly great honor

  • Well put TOMG. Basketball fans should check out the November issue of SLAM magazine which has a article "B-Ball's Hall Of Shame" that pretty much concurs with your comments. The HOF better straighten out their act or as you said they will lose any credibility they once had.
  • I also don't get why it seems its easier for anybody to get in lately except NBA players.

  • I'm fairly certain that I could get into the basketball HOF for my awesome 3 point shooting in the backyard.

That...and my vicious, thudding bricks off the backboard (heck I prided myself as being nicknamed the BRICKMASTER!)

    I want my damn plaque!

LOL, they should give you a plaque!image I think there giving them to people like coach's and so on because I guess without a great coach there wouldn't be that great player. If it wasen't for Bruce Lee's teacher I don't think he would be what he was lol. You gotta give respect and recognition to all of Basketball, not just the players. Sure the players are the main event but everybody counts! So, does anybody know whos gona be going in next? Whatever position the person, anybody, do you know or who do you think is going in next? Thanks again.
  • You already got your answer. Next year Olajuwon and Ewing will make it, along with three or four others. Only way to guess who they might be is to know the personal favorite of someone on the selection committee

And if all the non-players were so important, why is basketball the only sport to honor people in these sort of ratios? Everyone does count, but not equally. There are many people capable of doing what Jerry Colangelo did, but he just happened to be in the right place at the right time. No one outside of NBA all-star teams could play as well as Chris Mullin. Which one is in the Hall-of-Fame? To truly make a difference in the sport while wearing a suit requires a person to be the absolute best of their generation. Many coaches and executives from every generation are being inducted. And often they are being enshrined for reasons other than basketball

I think Chris Mullin has a little while to go before they would consider him, don't they have to wait a while before they could be inducted? Look at Jordan hes not in yet but it dosen't mean hes not going to be inducted. Which person got into the HOF for reasons other than Basketball? I'm just curious because I never heard of that before. I think the people who are in charge are doing the right thing. I can see if it was like a couple of people doing the picking or something but its not, theres many people involved in the choosing of who gets in. So does anybody have an idea on whos next or what? LOL. Thanks againimage
  • Drazen Petrovic most certainly made the Hall-of-Fame for what happened away from basketball. There are a lot of people who did as much as John Chaney did while on the court, but didn't recieve so much praise for outside activities

Chris Mullin became eligible in 2007, he could still make it, but didn't in his first try

Nice to hear about Chris Mullin, hope he makes it the next time around. I really don't know much about Petrovic so I have no clue why he made it or should not made it. Why do you think he got in? Never did know to much about him. Thanks again.

Dražen Petroviæ (October 22, 1964 – June 7, 1993) was a Croatian basketball player. A tireless shooter and prolific scorer, Petroviæ is arguably the most celebrated basketball player ever to emerge from Europe. He is considered the crucial part of the vanguard to the present-day mass influx of European players into the NBA

  • WOW, that guy was young, very sad story. They probably inducted him because he was so good that they just counted his stats and then timesed it to so and so years and they came out with some pritty high stats or something like that.
  • being from portland i remember him so very well, truly sad story.

Just to point out a key stat for Petrovic that a lot of people don't know...

112 points in a European Professional Game .

That is tough to do. And he averaged about 24 points per game in his final season in the NBA. He was on his way to being a perennial All Star...
