Who else avoids "First Strike" designation?

I did a search on ebay for 2007 PCGS under ASE's and found only 1 without the first strike designation. The first strike's just dont fit in with the rest of the set with the normal labels. The same with most modern sets. Which labels do you prefer?

Not really, I'm sure they could resubmit it for a regrade if you got a 69 and thought it should be a 70. If it made the grade I'm sure the FS would be put on the new label since you already paid for it once.
Personally, I always prefer first strike.

That would involve PCGS knowingly acknowledging the coin is under graded and make it less likely to score an upgrade IMO. i.e. the coin would really need to fit the grade and not a marginal piece.

Why should every coin that comes out of the mint be considered a 70...???..I can't believe it..!!I'm sure they are trying their best to produce a quality product. These are mass produced discs with designs on them that are sure to have some itsy bitsy teeny weeny little flaw that some anal mass submitter is gonna send the 69s back 'cause he didn't get a 70.....Gimme a break...!!!
And as far as the First Strike™ issue is concerned ...you can draw your own concusion..I have my own....
<< <i>I like the flag.
Maybe if they would just keep the flag and drop the first strike verbage it would be better. Now if they had "first strike" doughnuts that would be ok.

So spray painting a swastika on a synagogue should not be punished differently than painting "Tom loves Mary" on the Walmart?

yup, and to reel in suckers and newbies with marketing tactics

Actually, I like the label and the flag on FS holder and I will take FS coin anytime for the same price as non FS.

All the new stuff being graded is such a waste. It's all bullion and that will be what it's worth when you sell it. If you can even find a dealer to pay more than the going bullion rate for first strikes, I would be suprised. I still see them SELL for MORE than a 2-3% markup(normal rate for new bullion) over bullion for FS designation though. Just my thoughts

You know the coin police don't like off topics but I will sneek in a quickie and drop it. The answer is the law should be consistent with a range of punishments to fit the crime. Vandalism is vandalism like a MS65 is a MS65 (or should be). I would be just as offended and disturbed with a gang member painting a gang sign on my house as a jew would be with the swastika. The problem is that someone gets to define what a hate crime is and that leads to injustice and corruption.

But that being said, I will buy a coin in a FS holder - I just won't pay a premium for it. At this point, I think I have exactly 1.
