EVERY package FedEx delivers is fully insured and strictly tracked. A driver to "lose" a package would be tantamount to losing a job. I doubt Utah will sink many ships, and it's likely nothing will come of this (so give the guy a break), but it's a good lesson for all of us to be careful what we say to who...

    Rocket surgery?

P.S. The last poster has a point. You'd have to be pretty dumb to steal several of these. Your boss might believe one box of gold coins got lost, but ten? Yeah right. I doubt many FedEx drivers want to go to prison.
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."

OK, Utah had enough he won't do it again. Don't forget Utah paypal.image

    Hoard the keys.
  • I was a UPS driver for twenty years and always knew what i delivered. No driver is going to risk his job and even freedom for coins. There are many more things we deliver worth more.

You guys may be right, the majority of times, but there are plenty of cases of people getting stressed or doing something stupid. You CANNOT guarantee that a driver won't have a problem (gambling/drugs/etc) that makes him think that his problems could be solved by grabbing a bunch of these things....maybe he thinks he knows a way around the system?

I would agree that probably nothing will come of it but it was absolutely STUPID to do.

Last year, when I got the 20th Annv gold sets, my Fedex driver said something like "oh....these are from the mint...wonder what they are? I have a few of them to deliver"
I said, "well, I know that the mint was slow in getting some mint sets out so they probably expedited". I don't care if she believed me or not, there was NWIH (no way in h***) that I was going to say "duh....there are 3 ounces of gold coins in each box....at a minimum".

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • One of the local USPS clerks once asked me, after several consecutive visits to mail coins, what I was mailing out that was so heavy (he's a friendly guy, but I couldn't believe he'd actually ask me that; I know he's not suppposed to). I replied something about "collectibles," and he jumped to the conclusion that it was baseball cards. Now I've got to come up with vague answers to his questions about how the baseball card market is.image

Bottom line; you can't be too careful!

<< <i>Nice going.Fed-ex hires a lot of part timers who really don't care if they have that job or not.Now word of mouth may let all the drivers know what is in those packages.image >>

Recall last fall for the 3 pc Anniv gold , some Fedexers cut out the label, opened the box... stole the sets and reaffixed the label.
Best to keep your lips sealed.
More importantly identifying what you get delivered to your home opens you to be target ,for keeping valuables stored in your house..BEWAREimage

<< <i>Utah, probably not a good thing to do, but let's face it: 98% of people in this world are honest. I wouldn't worry about it too much. >>
