The Diseconomy of Minting US Dollar Coins

The environmental damage caused by the mining and refining of tons of copper, zinc, nickel and manganese
The burning of fossil fuels in the above, plus additional fuel consumed in transporting the refined metal to the Mints, energy consumed in the minting process and in transporting the finished coins to storage in vaults.
By the way, just where did we find all of the vault space to store these things? Or are they just dumping them down abandoned missle silos in North Dakota?
So why is this practice continuing?

<< <i>You are using a computer that runs on electricity and has parts made of precious and non precious metals, all of which are mined, and all of which require the burning of fossil fuels. Why is this practice continuing? >>
Ummm.... they haven't figured out how to pulp a tree down & make a paper computer??

This is all necessary to offset the tons of oxygen that plants keep thoughtlessly dumping into our atmosphere.
Minting millions of excess dollar coins helps prevent global cooling!

EDITED TO ADD: LET'S HAVE A GROUP TREE HUG!
but on the other side like Ricko mentioned that it makes jobs for miners, truckers, smelters, shippers, office workers ets ... the list goes on . imagine how many would be without a job. dont want that either
solution .. how about having China make the coins and truck and ship them to us half way around the world like all the stuff we buy from them anyways

Have you ever seen the waste products of a paper mill?
We should stop production of the rag-bucks, which are the real environmental catastrophe, and increase production and circulation of dollar coins.
And kill the one cent coin, too. And make a steel nickel.
