Slaughter House grading their own product?

morgansforevermorgansforever Posts: 8,486 ✭✭✭✭✭
I wonder if the officials at the Slaughter House, aka U.S. Mint, have entertained the idea of grading

their own coinage. Obviously, they have to be aware that their coins in high grade fetch big dollars.

They make the coins, there the largest coin dealer on the planet, and they have the financial backing to

start a grading department. Is it possible? Are there laws in place that prevent this?

Can you imagine an ASE graded MS70, first coin off the press, moon money.........

Any thoughts, or am I smoking to much green sticky stuff?

I no longer smoke marijuana, been clean for years, just an expression now.

Is it possible in the futrue, the Mint will slab some of their coinage?

It was suggested some years back, that true first strike would not only be the purvey of the mint, but a significant source of inflated income. I am not sure what has prevented them from entering this lucrative venture, but it may occur at some point in the future. I would expect only first strike (can be done after each die change) and MS/PR70's to be sold. I would hope they resolve the milk spot issue first. Cheers, RickO
