I havent found much with my Garrett 250 (except pull tabs. Lots of those) but I have to tell of a wild card find.
Last Saturday my wife and I were at the shopping center when we noticed a purse in a shopping cart in an empty parking space. We picked it up and instead of turning it into the stores we decided to try to find the owner. Turns out it belonged to a 82 yr. old women that lived 15 miles from us. It had her wallet , cell phone and her wedding rings in the purse. Her husband had recently died and this was one of the first times she had been out .
When we gave her her purse she offered us all the money in her wallet (less than $40.00) but NO WAY were we going to take her money for doing what was right. Got something much more valuable. Her thanks and a promise to remember us in her prayers.
Sorry for being so long winded but good things don't happen often enough.
The good feeling you get from helping someone is more valuable than gold.

ps. you should offer to take her out for dinner sometime (if you kept her phone #) sure she'd appreciate it knowing how lonely she must be..
It was the late 1980's when my mom, brother and myself were still living together. My mom was doing some gardening (she was a little healthy then) when a small dog was walking by and laid down in the shade on our front lawn. My mom got it some water and food and we then took it in for several days trying to find the owner. We checked the newspaper everyday in the lost and found and at several local grocery stores message boards. About 5 days later, my mom went to a particular grocery store because she wanted to pick up certain items on sale. When she left, she stopped at the message board and wrote a note about a found dog. Later that day, we got a call and beleived we had found the owner. The lady came with her about 7 year old daughter (the daughter had down syndrome) and it was their dog. The scream of excitement from the daughter "Its my doggie!" was nothing but pure joy. This little girl was so happy to get her dog back it brought tears to my eyes. I don't remember how much she offered us as a reward but none was taken. The joy the little girl showed was all we needed.
Sorry about the long reply......
