Just an idle thought.....if the Mint does replace the design on the 24kt gold bullion series, how about using the 1834-38 Classic Head gold design? I think that would look just boffo.........

That's a nice design, of course I've also always liked the turban head design.

Type 2 of $20 Liberty gold obverse to be used along with a "CC" mint mark and reverse proof as limited edition.

How about the Mint hires an actual aritft to make an entirely new rendition of Lady Liberty and they use that. That would be cool, unlikely but cool.
  • I really just hate what the mint does to classic designs. In fact, the mint hasn't done anything too extraordinary for quite a few years.

I'm really OK with whatever they do as long as Hillary Clinton doesn't make it on a coin.

Edited to say that I guess she'll be on a first Hag.

I would rather see a flowing hair, the older $5 Busts or the Flying Eagle cents.

Why not, could be interesting if they show all of the stress wrinkles a presidency would put on. image

Why not? They're going to use it on a half ounce non-spouse coin, so why not blow it up to the one ounce size with the proper eagle on the back?

Sales of the Buffalo gold ouncers have really fallen off in the store. The Mint might as well go ahead and make the 24kt a "new" design every year.

If the idea is to remake non-gold designs in gold, then the Mercury dime.
  • A lot of coins would look nice as a replacement for the Buffalo.

    Mercury dime, Flying Eagle cent....

Just change it every year would be first on my list.

Fractionals, starting with this years Buffalo, would be second.

The money to pay for the series would be third.image

Stella or Princess would be my choice for classic.
Re-design altogether would be perfect. Something modern like a toyota tundra. image
