I didn't get to see the game because I was at work at the time, but after seeing Louisville struggling against that small fry last week, I had no doubt in my mind that Kentucky could pull this off and they sure did!!!

Next thing that got pulled off was the goalposts and grass after we kicked the Cardinals' ass!!

I tell ya what folks, if we can keep up this momentum, we could very well be (gasp!) BCS contenders. After all, we have second place LSU along with the defending champ Florida on our schedule too. That'll teach Loserville for being so smug at our house.

Go Wildcats!! Class of 2003!

This also brings back fond memories of when I was student manager for Daviess County High football in 1998 (and baseball in 1998 and 1999; 1998 we came three outs short of state Final Four). We only went 4-6 that football season, but we did get one very bright spot in our season when we knocked off our arch-rival Apollo on their homecoming night (and ranked #6 in the state too).

I tell ya what folks, Kentucky may not have a major league club of any kind (though we almost did get the Grizzlies) but we do have our fair share of local sports teams to root for.

Well, we're going to going for 4-0 tonight against Arkansas, which I'm sure we will make quick work of.

And as for the SEC fining us $25K for storming the field after our upset against Loserville, they seriously need to get a friggin' life.

I mean, what are we supposed to do after beating a top ten team for the first time since 1977? Stand and cheer polietly for a few seconds and leave?

And indeed we do! We came back from a 20-7 deficit in the second quarter to come back and turn the Razorbacks into bacon 42-29! This is our first win in the SEC opener since 1984! Keep up the good work 'Cats!!

And I just received even MORE good news; Kentucky has just shot up to 14th place in the AP poll!! Now, I know for most of you who are fans of more traditional college powerhouses you'd be yawning at that, but you have to understand that until recently, Kentucky has been pretty much the laughing stock in the SEC in terms of college football. Wow, we keep this going and we could very well be BCS contenders.

Be afraid Florida and LSU. Be very, very afraid.

Congrats to the Wildcats for their big wins over Louisville and Arkansas, good way to start a season.

Glad to see Randy Sanders is having success in Lexington, he was pretty much the scapegoat for Tennessee's bad season a couple years ago. He's a good coach but you can't get better than David Cutcliffe.

I hope so they can pull it off tomorrow. I don't follow football that much, but they have me interested a little bit this year.

I am ready for hoops. I am looking forward to seeing how Billy Gillispie does with this year's roster. I wonder if Alex Legion and Patrick Patterson will start? I will say that Patterson will but Legion will come off the bench because of the guard depth with Bradley, Jasper, and Meeks.

Well, remember that I'm not just a fan of Kentucky; I also hold a BA in history and a BA in political science from there too. Class of 2003!

And another neat concidence is the fact that Marquis Estill (his last name is almost the same as my first; only mine has one less "L") played for Kentucky the same years I went there; 1999-2003!

I only wish we had gone to the Final Four when I was in school there (we came up just short my last year there and we came up even closer still in 2005 but again just missed).

And I too am looking forward to the first year of the Gillispie Administration; he sure seems to be trying real hard on the recruiting that's for sure! I also hope Tubby has an awesome tenure with Minnesota as well; he definetly got a raw deal the past couple years and deserves much better.

Well, Kentucky has just properly disposed of that other Florida team 45-19, which gives us a 5-0 start for the first time since 1984! I doubt this will help us in the rankings any, but hopefully once we upset 12th place South Carolina next week that'll change.

EDIT: I just found out the 7th, 10th, and 13th place teams got beat today, so maybe we'll get a small boost in the standings after all. This is so cool; it's like being in an old fashioned pennant race!

Hopefully our basketball team will get back to that sort of position also; normally they're consistently at or close to the top ten in the AP Poll but we had a rather disappointing campaign last year that actually saw us fall out of the poll completely. Hopefully that'll change for the better for our 105th basketball campaign.

WOW!! I knew Kentucky was going to move up a bit in the rankings, but I had no idea they were going to shoot up from 14th to (gasp!) eighth place in the standings, eh I mean rankings. I would've prefered Florida not got beat before we got to them but who cares? All we have to do is keep winning and we'll be BCS contenders for sure! Of course, we have to be careful regarding BOTH South Carolina and Florida because we can no longer play the underdog card and sneak up on teams; we'll be the ones with the bullseye's on our backs (not to mention we're not even halfway through our season yet). But I'm sure we can take them! We've come much too far to let someone beat us now! And lookie who we have a date with after Florida:

Well, first we're shooting for a BCS bid (gotta take things one step at a time). Obviously one loss will not totally knock us out of national championship contention but it sure didn't help (at least our loss came from someone just below us; it wasn't like we lost to some Mickey Mouse club).

My point is that the indvidual who told us "Welcome to reality" is branded as a Reds fan, and he/she/it needs to understand that we're not just going to give up and back it in over one loss. I mean, the 1990 Oakland Athletics were the defending World Champs (and two time AL Champs) against the Reds and heavily favored and you didn't see them just roll over. And neither will we. We've got the top ranked team coming up and then the defending champs next; we beat those clubs and we'll be back in the hunt for sure.

Wow!!!!!!! I never had any doubt for a second we could pull this off!!!! We sure had to do it the hard way (three overtimes) but we did it!!!!! The KENTUCKY WILDCATS just wiped the smug faces off the so-called #1 team in the country for only the third time in school history!!! I am so estatic, I am so happy!!!!!!

But we gotta keep this up guys! Once we also upset the defending champs next week, we'll be back in the BCS race for sure!!

Can you believe the SEC just fined us $50K for storming the field after our upset? I mean seriously, the SEC needs to get a frickin' life.

Anyhoo, how do you guys like our chances against the defending champs this Saturday? Someone at work (who came to eat crow after giving the Cats no chance against LSU) asked me what my prediction is, and I predicted Kentucky by a touchdown. Well, I just so happened to check the line section of the paper afterwards (just out of curiousity; I usually never pay any attention to that section) and it had the exact same spread as my prediction, except with the favorite/underdog roles reversed (KY is the 'dog). I was a bit surprised that we were still the underdogs despite the fact that we have a higher ranking than Florida but that's okay, I like Kentucky better when they're the underdog, and they seem to do better as the underdog. Of course, that won't be the case after Florida.

But in any event, I have no doubt that Kentucky will beat Florida and run the table the rest of the way. I mean, we have a national championship (or most certainly a BCS bid at minimum) within our grasp now; we've come much too far to just let someone beat us now!

I think Kentucky has a shot at beating Florida, in fact I hope they do. The Wildcats looked pretty impressive in the LSU game, but you've got to admit that the LSU/Florida matchup took a lot out of the Bayou Bengals. The Wildcats just wanted it more and LSU thought too highly of theirselves.

Here's my ideal scenario and what will most likely happen, Kentucky beats Florida, Tennessee runs the table. Then the Orange and Blue meet up in Lexington on November 24 with Tennessee crushing Kentucky's hopes, keeping the Beer Barrell, and make the streets of Lexington flood with blue tears. Tennessee goes on to the SEC Championship game as East Champs, and beats LSU to get revenge for 2006.

Just my thoughts.

Let's hope both of our teams run the table from here on out. That'll make our last game (and yours also?) all that much better. Because after Florida all we have left after that is a couple Mickey Mouse Clubs, then Georgia (they are still ranked). I didn't know anything about a "beer barrell" (we have the Govenor's Cup for Kentucky/Loserville and we used to do a barrell of some kind back when we had Indiana on our schedule) but that's probably because until very recently we never had a realistic chance at it. But yes, our last regular season game should be a good one; good luck!

Obviously of course I hope for a slightly different ending.

I don't think they have awarded the Beer Barrell in a few years. I don't believe it's politically correct anymore. And if I remember back in the late 1990's there was a Kentucky player that got killed in an alcohol related accident a couple weeks before the game and that may have been why they stopped the tradition.

Well, we are down by 11 points at halftime, and though that's certainly no fun, just remember that we are 4-1 this year after trailing at the half and we were down 13 points against LSU. So don't count out the Cats, guys!

Unfortunately, our comeback was just a bit short today, but boy, what an effort by these Cats (especially that last TD). This will definetly knock us out of national title contention (and we did get some help from our friends ranked above us today but we didn't take advantage of it today), but I still think we got a shot at a BCS bid if we just run the table the rest of the way. There's still plenty of football let, folks.

And I just received word we dropped to 14th place in both polls.

But that's okay, we got a full four games left to climb right back up!

Well guys, tomorrow we take on Mississippi State; they're only a Mickey Mouse Club (.500 record) so I don't think we should have too much trouble. In fact, I think we got an excellent chance of running the table the rest of the regular season and still staying in the BCS hunt, though I'm pretty sure two losses and you're out of the national title hunt. I know there's also talk of us making the SEC Championship game (the SEC East race is wide open to say the least) but I personally think getting in a good BCS bowl would be better.

i remember thae last time we went to 11-0 to national chapionship game-1989 lol- w.v.u. vs notre dame-fiesta bowl in arizona-and notre dame stomed us,chuck bednariks nephew is playing at wvu for past 2-3 years- adam bednarik-if hes as half as bad as his nut h.o.f. uncle-he'll be doing allright!!!

At least your 'Boys seem to be having better luck this year. Maybe they'll go for a Super Bowl apperance this year?

And I still maintain that given the 100+ year history of college football championships being decided by polls and big bowl games and such, I simply do not believe playoffs belong in Division 1-A football.
