Poll: Did you buy a Jefferson Spouse even if you aren't collecting the series?

53BKid53BKid Posts: 2,174 ✭✭✭
Okay, there are a lot of people who like the Jefferson spouse for a lot of reasons, many of whom can't stand the FirstHags. Just wondering what the response to this coin is.
HAPPY COLLECTING!!!

I'll either slab it or flip it; not sure which yet.

OK, tell us how you really feel
PEACE! This is the first day of the rest of your life.

  • I didn't buy the first two for i thought it was pretty ugly for the price. The Jefferson spouse coin, now i like this coin, thus i had to have one. I only bought the proof for I have no intentions of selling the coin. As these coins become available i'm sure i'll pick up few more, but just the ones that i find interesting.

I've collected gold commems for years, including the classic ones. I just cant see ponying up the kind of money required to collect this series. But I do like the Jefferson Liberty and may collect the Liberty sub-series.

Will be collecting the whole spouse series.Unc and proof.
  • I have 2 each of both the proofs and uncs coming if the order my sister placed at 1:30 gets filled too. I will likely slab them all and then sell 3 except for 1 proof which i may keep.

The 4 coin liberty short set sounds appealing to me.

I am not buying primarily because I don't collect NCLT.

No, moderns just aren't for me.
  • This was the first coin I ever ordered from the mint. I usually like the older classic coins but I thought I would order this one because 1. It is gold and the trend for gold is up 2. It is a beautiful coin 3. Maybe a flipper is born here ( but I doubt it). And 4. There is just to much talk on this forum about these first hags and at least that will make them interesting to me.

I definitely intend to collect the whole series, even if they tank in the after market.
  • I'm thinking a 4-coin liberty sub series will be cool as I can't afford to do the entire series.

So far it appears at least on this poll that those buying the Jeff Liberty outnumber regular First Spouse collectors over 5 to 1. If that's any indication, this issue should do just fine longer term.

No... do not like the series... ugly, overpriced, no sustaining market. Cheers, RickO
  • 53BKid53BKid Posts: 2,174 ✭✭✭
    Hey Ricko,

After 142 votes, I've just added an answer at the bottom of the poll that comes close to your response. I can't believe I overlooked that one! Sorry All!

Definitely not collecting the series but I love the Liberty design coins and will collect them.

If any of the lesser known spouse coins seem to be headed to a very low mintage I will buy them as well. Of course, with the internet boards such as this such low mintages will likely be a self correct phenomenon.

So, the flippers win by a long shot! Does this shock anyone?

I got mine and the proof looks spectacular. The MS is kind of ho hum with a lot less detail than the drawings show.
  • 53BKid53BKid Posts: 2,174 ✭✭✭
The amount of flipping of this issue on eBay is kind of incredible, considering that the mint did it's best to get the coins directly into collectors hands.

If this poll is an indicator of the broader universe, which I doubt, about a quarter of the issue, roughly 10,000 TJs, flip.

I only intend to have the non-spouse spouse gold. I probably won't even try on the others.

Me too...The Liberty series will look beautiful together, and it's easily assembled with only 4 coins.

The FirstHags™ on the other hand, in my opinion will trade at melt eventually, especially at these mintages.
    HAPPY COLLECTING!!!
