2007 Goudey

I am starting to see some of the new 2007 Goudey cards hit ebay. What is the general impression on these cards...a hit...a bust?

    Nice Buyback Inserted

I always like the retro look of modern cards, but this and A&G and CrackerJack and Turkey Red and....I just have to say no at some point. It would be fun and I bet deals can be had out there for singles.

  • Just bought 3 retail boxes tonight. I'll let you know what I get and how they are once I receive them. I get the feeling that the hype won't be much for them since A & G seems to be more exciting.

Yeah it seems like they came out a little too late, A & G kind of took their thunder. Many people are collecting sets and subsets of A&G, they will be too busy for Goudey. I thought the autos look pretty neat...

A couple BIN's on ebay have the Hobby Box at $109 and $116. Looks like they are just about hitting that price on the regular auctions.

The doubleplay black and white /15 cards are kinda nice.

But, I agree that A&G stole all of the thunder. Sport Kings is priced way too high and folks are going to be priced out of that one it seems.

I'll probably purchase some singles off of the bay, but I doubt I'll buy any boxes.

Does anyone know what the differences are on the backs of the cards?
  • I THINK its white vs. Gray

I don't care for them it looks as if they tried to use the Goudey design, but the backgrounds of the cards look like the 1934-36 Diamond Stars cards, nothing like what the backgrounds that Goudey had used.

I saw 4 (I think) different colored backs on eBay for the Frank Thomas card.

Just picked up 4 boxes , they're Red backs and green backs if that was the question . . .

I kinda like the cards , Pulled 2 jerseys out of one box and the rest of them just 1 jersey , No wood , pulled a Nice Reggie S/P .

My son seems to think they're cool, but maybe just because they're different .

Great borders on these boxes .

Good point, goudeys had a solid color

There are green backs and red backs, both equally plentiful. The high number cards are SP's

LoL, I did notice the way they have some kind of strange looking painted scenery goin on in the background , Don't know why they opted to do that versus the solid ??

All of the packs were a certain size , then I had one pack in the four boxes that was really small , I thought I was going to pull something out of this world , No dice though . . .

Bought my 2nd box of these this weekend and almost every pack had a green back and a red back of the same player in them. Some even had 2 like that in it.

Yeah they have combined the Diamond's Star Set Design with 34 Goudey. To me it seems odd. Why not just do a 34 Goudey Design and have the Diamond Stars Design be a parallel

I was hitting the Targets and Wal-marts looking for A&G and bought two blasters of this stuff. I didn't pull any autos or GU but pulled a big head Nolan Ryan and Brooks Robby. Also got a very cool Bench card which I think is just a base card. I can scan a few if you guys want. I do like the cards, but A&G beat them to my wallet.

Every pack I opened had 4 red and 4 green back cards unless there was a parallel in the pack.

I bought one of the blaster boxes today and just about every pack had doubles of players. one with the green back and one with the red back....seems like they could have done better collation....I realize the backs are different but still seems weird.....

I don't plan on buying any boxes. The only thing I'd be interested in pulling is an original buy back. I have purchased 6 or so singles off of the bay though.

  • I bought 3 boxes today at Target. Hall of famer cards look nice, pulled one game used Robinson Cano. I don't really get the green vs. red backs.

Mia Hamm? Why, I believe that she's Nomar Hamm's wife. Or does he still go by Garciaparra?

Can't believe that as a Dodger fan I just wrote that.

  • Got a blaster box, BOO...

8 packs had 10 doubles in it. Sure they were red back and green back but I just want the cards. A big turn off if you are not a set builder...

Like the look but I am not spending all that money on a box to get 2 of every card. Too bad I wanted to like these. Bring on A&G 2008!!!

Bought one 24 pack retail box and got 0 game used or autos. One pack had only 5 cards in it and one was severly creased (Matt Holliday). Pretty pissed.

Mia Hamm is supposed to be one of the best woman soccer players ever. I just found that out. Either way she is hot and is a great card to look at.image

You're kinda stretching it there a bit with hot. A little too man-ish for me, and what's up with that "I may kill you in your sleep" look in her eyes?
  • As they say "to each his own" LOL

Well with all the hype here on this forum about the A&G Blaster packs at Target, I galavanted over to my local Target last night with 100 bucks to spend on cards burning a hole in my pocket, but alas there were no A&G's. They had a load of other stuff, some looked semi-interesting and some looked like garbage, but I just decided to pass on all. Yes, I'll also wait for the A&G 2008's at Target.

Yeah you are right with the look in her eyes. Did not notice that until now. I like older woman, what can I say!

Have any of you gentlemen pulled any relics ?

I pulled 2 relics from one box, I thought that was cool from a 20.00 box .

I haven't seen any hobby boxes yet though , I'm dying to rip one or two of those .

Those are nice Jeters, Mealeworm !

I think Mia is kinda cute .

She definitley isn't ugly that's for sure , she may not be a supermodel or anything but I'd still hit it LOL .

I think that is a cool pull

Yea, I haven't gotten doubles either , mine were fine in that respect , I got a lot of nice cards from the 4 boxes I broke .

    No auto's though . .

Randy , How are you making out on going through all those cards you bought , have you found anything really cool in there ??
  • Why are the retail boxes so much cheaper than hobby boxes. Both boxes state 24 packs 8 cards per pack.
  • mealewormmealeworm Posts: 1,271 ✭✭✭
I might give the set a try. If anyone has a list LMK, I just got one together.
