This should be interesting...to see how long the HT troll can stay away.
Was nice to see Alstott at the game yesterday, and to see the crowd roar with applause for him. It's likely that he's played his last game, and is sitting out this year with a neck injury. Perhaps the Bucs most popular player, and a great shot for a HoF nod, Alstott's presence was welcome.
The game was pretty boring, a 13-10 win over the Pats, but with both sets of starters out early, it was good to see some reserves. The ground game looked to be much improved over last year, and if that can carry over to the regular season, an improvement on last years win total is inevitable.
Will be interesting to see what happens with Simms, as it appears he may not be recovered from his splenectomy. The Bucs and Broncos are co-plaintiffs in a suit to recover nearly $7 million in bonus money from Jake Plummer.

<< <i>Bucs fans better enjoy their preseason wins, cause there ain't gonna be many wins for them during the regular season. Can Bucs fans spell 4 - 12? >>
How much longer are the Glazers going to give Chucky to turn things around in Tampa Bay before they show him the door?

Well he has won a super bowl, which is more than most head coaches currently coaching can say, so he does have some reprieve. There's no way this team is any worse than a .500 club this year.
2002 season Super Bowl:
Winning team: Tampa Bay
Winning coach: Jon Gruden*
*Jon Gruden was the head coach when the Buccaneers won the Super Bowl but credit for winning the Super Bowl should be given to Tony Dungy who put the team together, and because Jon Gruden has proven time and time again that he is a wimpy, pathetic head coach, and really should be an assistant coach and not a head coach.
<< <i>Well then what about the Raiders, whom Gruden coached the year before, making it to the super bowl the year after he left? Using that same tired old argument would then tell us that the Raiders who went to the super bowl were indeed Gruden's team. >>
Both the Raiders and Bucs have sucked since going to the Bowl.
Perhaps Gruden could capitalize on some good vets and motivate a young guy or two, but after a few years his teams learn to hate him.
No playoffs this year, out by Thanksgiving again and Gruden is out.
Book it.
<< <i>

Uhm I take it you are forgetting the 11-5 season a couple years ago? Or have you conveniently forgotten that fact?

One lucky shot. Gruden blew the rest.
Much more of the same this year. Enjoy another season of pain.
<< <i>

heh 'lucky'? Is that the best you got? You got a QB who hasn't been able to make it through 3 of the last 5 seasons, you got a coach that folds under pressure in the playoffs, and a team that has never won a super bowl, yet you dare to talk trash about the Bucs?
Interesting.

Yes I'll talk trash about the Bucs. They stink and their coach is responsible.
The height of last season for the Bucs? Matt Bryant Day and the Pittsburgh Boot of Shame (the kick made so that Gradkowski's team was not shut out in what he considers his home field).
You have so much to look forward to this season. So much mediocrity, so little time. Enjoy.
I'll take the Eagles record any day. We have been through this before.
Get a life and become a Niners fan. The SF Giants too since you're so far up Bonds butt.

So what do you say about the Eagles? They haven't won a super bowl, their QB is frail and oft-injured. The coach makes terrible, terrible coaching decisions that cost his team games.

Last season was bad. All teams go through them, no team is great forever.

Take the eagles' record of choking in the postseason, or pushing away the best player your team has ever seen (TO) only to embrace McNabb?
Interesting.

"Everybody" knows Al Davis controls all the shots for the Raiders. Gruden was just a puppet head coach for the Raiders as all Raiders head coaches have been for many years.

How much reprieve should he get? That super bowl was quite some time ago and sports tends to be a "what have you done for
me lately" kind of thing. Of course, maybe the Glazers look at it differently.
<< <i>Admittedly, the Eagles have been very unlucky for a variety of circumstances, but the Eagles are still overall the greatest NFL franchise in professional football history with three NFL Championship rings and they'll be more rings in the near future. >>
Woah, the 'greasts NFL franchise in professional football history'? The same team that has a lifetime .477 winning percentage? The Cowboys beat you there, with a .577 winning percentage. Resorting to 'championship rings' (not super bowls)? Pathetic. But if you want to do that, the Cowboys, 49ers, and Steelers all have more championships than the Eagles.
So they don't have the best winning percentage in the regular season (sub .500 to be exact), they've never won a super bowl, and they have 2 less 'championships' than at least 3 teams.
How exactly are they the 'greatest' team, again?
Also, 'luck'?
That's an eagle fan's rationale for NO super bowl wins? 'Luck' is the reason the Bucs won the super bowl? And historically poor franchise? Someone has been asleep the past 15 years.

They needed that just to go 4 - 12, otherwise it's 3 - 13. Pathetic team and a more pathetic head coach who won't last the season. Gruden will be the first head coach fired this season - easy call. Of course Jerry Jones is such a pathetic owner, he might hire Gruden as head coach for next season after Wade Phillips flops.

There's more to greatness in a franchise than just wins, although of course wins is a part of it. But three NFL championships is good enough to be considered for greatness and then there are other factors. I think one of the most important is fan loyalty and fan support and no team in the NFL and possibly no other sports team gets the fan support that Philly gives to the Eagles. Then there are other factors such as dignity, class, respect and how a team is measured in the community and the Eagles are outstanding on all counts and many more as well. A few other NFL franchises such as the Packers or the Giants could arguably be called the greatest and I could understand that argument...but certainly the Eagles can be and I believe should be called the greatest franchise in NFL history. And it's only getting better for the Eagles.

So now backtracking from 'the greatest' to 'one of the greats'.
You want to talk fan loyalty, I can think of two other teams with better fanbases without even thinking: Dallas and Green Bay....you won't see those fans booing at their own players. 'Dignity and class', you mean like how much dignity and class eagle fans showed in applauding when Michael Irvin got hurt in Philly, ending his career?

There was no backtracking at all. And I already mentioned the Packers. And you fully know that Philly fans were "applauding" the fact that it was a good clean hit which knocked a hated player from a hated team out of the game. Irvin even acknowledged that it was a clean hit, and nobody not even Irvin at the time thought it would harm his career.

<< <i>Dallas....you won't see those fans booing at their own players. >>
That has to be the most ignorant, ill informed statement made on these boards in sometime.
Just in recent memory: Aikman, Carter, Vinny, Bledsoe, and Romo have all been booed by the Dallas crowd. In fact, Drew was booed off the field just last year.
Your selective and warped short term memory loss completely disregards these FACTS.
Not surprised, though. When you only get insight on a team via 30-second highlight clips on ESPN, you see only what the network decides to show.
I didn't call you a cross country bandwagoner.. Didn't say the Bucs were going to be terrible, etc... I simply pointed out a comment you made was completely and totally false. Not a hint of truth in it.. You will never see Dallas fans booing their players?!?
It was such an asinine comment that it's yet another reflection of your credibility, which is squat.
You were wrong; just admit you pulled it out of your rear and move on.
You said, "Dallas....you won't see those fans booing at their own players."
I showed that statement has ZERO truth to it. Zero as in absolutely no truth whatsoever.
Enough about pulling stuff out of your rear.
Good luck with the Bucs this season. I'm sure it must be difficult for you to cheer a team almost 3,000 miles from where you live. Probably even tougher since in all likelyhood, you've never seen "your" team in person. And to top that off, there probably aren't many, if any at all, fellow fans for you to watch games with.
But none the less, enjoy watching them play on TV, getting insight from 30 second clips on ESPN, and giving high-fives to yourself.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Sincerely,
Eagles Fan

C'mon, this team will never make .500. I said it a few years ago (and was right) and I'll say it again. The Lions will suck again, but will win more games than the Bucs. And I can only see Detroit winning 6.
I know Kev is still mad that the Bucs couldn't pull off the swap for Calvin. They'll regret it.

haha a few years ago they were 11-5...so obviously you weren't right. They had a bad season last year, but since when does a lions fan have any room to talk, with the worst GM in all of professional sports?

No, actually they won't. Tell me, how have those previous 15 first round pick WR's worked out for you?

LOL, now usually I have no gripes with you but I see why everybody else does... cause you talk out your rear without checking your so-called facts. In 2004 (few is generally considered 3), I said the Lions would get more wins than the Bucs in Kevins post. In that particular year, the Lions went 6-10 and the Bucs finished 5-11. So... haahaa. Obviously I was right axhole. Your 11-5 season was 2005, which we common refer to as a "couple" of years ago. Thanks for playing. Pick up your free toaster on the way out the door.

I will guarantee Calvin has more of an impact throughout his career than Gaines ever will. And those "3" first round draft picks have merely produced one Pro Bowler which isn't oo bad, but the other 2 were flops. I suspect they'll be 2-4 with the addition of Calvin though, which most teams would be happy with.

Good lord now you want to argue semantics? When you resort to bragging about a 6 win season you know you are either a Lions or a Texans fan.

So you have a 67% fail rate selecting WRs in the first round. How exactly would you compare a WR's impact with that of a DE?
Stalin seems to be bragging about a 4 win season. LOL
<< <i>Who is Tampa's starting QB this year anyways? Please tell me its not Jeff Garcia... >>
Yeah, you mean the guy who took the struggling eagles to what, 6 wins in a row last year and rescued their season? He's our starter.

Right. The guy that had a "team" around him though, lets not forget how he faired with the Browns.

Who was bragging? Nice attempt at trying to slip past the fact you stuck your foot in your mouth. And similar to Jenna J, it's probably not the only thing that's been in there lately. You should know, besides playing with yourself, the internet is also at your fingertips so you should consider checking your facts from now on before running off at the mouth.

I have no fail rate in this instance for I have not drafted for or played with the Lions. Recently the Lions have not done very well in the first round with WR's, but things may slightly change with their most recent pick. How will I compare impact? Calvin will be one and Gaines will not...

Eagles have one of the best O-Lines in the NFL, arguably the best. The Bucs O-Line is a walking sieve. Garcia will get his brains beat in and revert back to the form he had with the Lions. Garcia will be a flop with the Bucs - a terrible signing by those who don't fully understand the game of NFL football.
