Have you seen a worse looking PSA 8?

Maybe I missed the thread, but on page 45 of the September SMR has got to be the ugliest PSA 8 in existence. That Cy Young card is ugly off center, has 4 soft corners, ugly notch on the top border and scuff marks throughout most of the gold border. If you would have asked me to grade that card, I would have been on the fence between a 4 and 5. Why they would use that example in their article is mind boggling. That card is way out of place in that holder....and just because it is an old card doesn't mean you go easy on it...Just had to get that off my chest

  • I agree with you, however I do think a 4 or 5 is a little harsh. To me it looks like a 6 O/C

    That one is a stinker.

Actually, I owned one worse than that - had a thread about it, (but the scan has disappeared - anybody save it?) about the PSA 8 Gervin RC I had that should have been a PSA 5 PD? Here is a link to the thread- sorry no picture.

There is a 1958 Koufax PSA 8 that is about 90/10 and has so much snow that you can hardly see his face floating around somewhere. It might be part of the WIWAG thing however (I had a 58 Clemente that was part of it).
