My "thick" card sub arrived today...Im not very happy

My first problem is the fact that it was an 8 card sub and 4 of the cards are in wrong slabs.

My second problem is while this slabs look okay, some of the cards not only move up and down inside the slab but also when turned upside down, the card bounces around from the back of the slab to the front. Quite ridiculous if you ask me.

Here is the scan of the worst of the worst. The Fleer Ex Turf card is in the wrong slab and if you look at the bottom of the scan you can see all the space this card has to move back and forth in to be eventually damaged.

The "mechanical error" I can undersatnd a little bit but the way these cards move around is pathetic!

I would appreciate comments from the guys that sub's thick cards to see if your cards move in 4 directions as well.

rube, here is the other "2 lb" card you wanted to see image

That sucks Matt. I'd be upset too. Unfortunately when you're doing a player registry set
you're going to need/include the super thick cards as well. I personally don't care for the
larger holders and will probably never send in a super thick card. I think most modern
collectors have been whining and crying about grading the thick cards, and now that they
have them available, we're disappointed that they're just too big. Actually, those holders
were meant for packs, but PSA killed two birds with one stone. Cool cards though.

I have one mechanical error from our sub together. Flip says autograph and the card is not.
It's the invisible variation. I'll just keep it. Mechanical errors are a pain in the arse.

Wow those are nice though !
Definitely see what you're saying about the potential of becoming damaged though .

    Sheesh !
They are not going to stay Gem Mint if they're moved around from time to time , what can you do about that now , without shipping it back and risking hurting the card ?

Can ya show them the error and then crack it out of there and send it back to them so they can fix it , or they won't do that ?
I'm not sure if I would want to move that at all in that holder .

    That is very strange .

PSA's choice of holder for thick game used cards is ridiculous.. i have tons that i would submit if they could come up with a regular sized holder.. other grading companies have done it..

Im gonna ship them back as is. If I crack them, I would have to pay for grading again.

It just boggles my mind these would be shipped like this.

Anyone else have the same problem?

That is gonna stink if, God forbid it has a rough ride back to them though and they can't give it the same grade , what would happen then ?

i have on some of mine,i think they should put iem in thin plastic like they do some of the irregual shaped cards that fit in the regular holders, i have a bonds card that is a weird cut version and its in plastic sleeve, then in a reg slab,if they did that with the thicker cards,i dont think they would have a problem with them moving around so much then,i just dont move mine lol,put em in your emmit shine and never touch them matt imageimage
p.s-that is a very cool brass emmit!!! you can borrow my gillie suit and vist after dark, not a very good pic, i need sunshine, but you get the idea, slightly used lol image BOO

That big ol hairy think looks like the infamous Chupa Cabra or whatever
the folks down in Mexico and Central America call the blood sucking goat creature.
All you have to do is add the Red eyeballs and fangs that people say it possesses and Viola!
There you go Rube; you have actual photographic proof that it exists.

Please add the red eyeballs and fangs.....you're crazy enough to do it image and then
    re-take the pic lol.
  • if you do dress up like a Chupacabra for Halloween... you'll need to whistle backwards and smell like battery acid to be authentic.
  • Nice cards, but (don't hate me for saying this) i would send them to beckett. they would be protected better in their cases. unless of course they are going in a registry. good luck though.

Tim, not a bad idea but not the smartest thing to be saying on a PSA board.

Matt, is a HUGE Emmitt collector on the registry so beckett (lower case b) is out of the question. PSA just needs to get their act together on the new holders. It will take time but they eventually will get it.

I would be more upset that they screwed up half of the labels on the order. They really need some way of deal with this problem, other than well just send them back and we will fix them. Its a royal pain in the you know what to have to keep shipping cards and waiting more. Even more so when you want the cards added to the set registry. And they have a card mislabled that cant be requested because they got the year wrong, or player name wrong. These are really tough things to double check. Maybe some one needs to send Joe O a email about this.

No doubt they would be protected better in BGS slabs. If there is one thing Beckett does right, its the fact that their slabs protect cards like no other company out there. I just wish PSA felt the same.

I like PSA and Im big into the registrys but their slabs leave alot to be desired.
