Id say around 20K, he is letting it go at the right time.
My assumption would be that since SGC and PSA are pretty much the two leaders in grading that an SGC 100 would draw a considerable premium over a PSA 10.
If at first you dont succeed, keep on sucking, til you do succeed.
SGC 98 is Gem Mint, while SGC 100 (Pristine) is very, very rarely used. It implies unimprovable - while both SGC 98 and PSA 10 often have a micro-issue or two. Switching it over to a PSA 10 would cost it the distinction of being the highest graded example.
I have an old flip SGC 98 1984 Donruss Tony Gwynn. I was shocked when I compared the corners under magnification on that card vs. several PSA 10s of the same issue. I would not hesitate to buy SGC cards if gem mint was my thing.
This guy Rjake was one of the biggest buyer of graded cards back when I was in the business. He must have some amazing collection. I think he also won the walter payton rookie sgc 100.
I bet it gets barely $10,000 if that. SGC 100's are that big of a deal anymore. $17k for a 13 year old card would have been a steal when offered that years ago.
collecting RAW Topps baseball cards 1952 Highs to 1972. looking for collector grade (somewhere between psa 4-7 condition). let me know what you have, I'll take it, I want to finish sets, I must have something you can use for trade.
looking for Topps 71-72 hi's-62-53-54-55-59, I have these sets started
Certainly on a card graded SGC 100, a seller would not likely be worried about giving "too good" of a scan/picture. So I wonder why the picture as opposed to a scan ... and not too good of a picture at that. And if does not have a scanner, I'd invest the $100.00 and pick up a scanner. But I'd agree with Bosox1976, the old flip will hurt. But 20%? I have no idea.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
No need for a scan, the card is perfect. The card was submitted by a guy named scott who use to set up the parsippany show in NJ (right next to me). He had such a great eye that he later worked for sgc as a grader. He had the highest rate of 98's when they were impossible to get. Cant remember what the first sale was for this card... I knew at one point but it got filed away as not important in my brain..
Amazing. What if AROD gets dinged with steroid accusations? That could make this a $500 card someday. Sounds risky. I'll stick with collecting the dead players. They don't have much downside risk aside from an overall crash in the market.
I agree with Bobafett. I'll take my $22k and get married instead of buying a 12 year old shiney card.

<< <i>nice card that should be fun to watch >>
Ya it is, I've been watching for 5 mins and it"s jumped 4 bids and $775.
EDIT: make that 8 bids and $1575.
<< <i>I wouldn't be surprised if some jerk reported him for spamming BGS and PSA in the title and it gets pulled
I don't think the jerk would be the one reporting it. He is certainly keyword spamming.
