Metal detector question - need recommendation for stater system

<SPAN class=postbody>I am looking to put a few bucks into a nice metal detector.

I actually have an online gift certificate that I can use at a few stores, but only one or two that I've found so far carry MDs.

What I have been able to find are:
Bounty Hunter (several different models from $180 to about $325)
Garrett (many models from $150 to about $950)

While I'm not yet willing to spend nearly a grand on one of these things, I can see say $350 to $500.

Any input from the MD set here?

    Great starting detector is the Garrett Ace 250. It can be found for $212. I simply turned mine on, and was away. It has a lot of the nice features that the high end detectors have also.

    The White's Prizm line would be worth a look in that price range.

    I'd recommend you buy a Garrett Ace 250 from Kellyco imediately.

    I followed this advice nearly to the letter. Since I had a gift cert, I needed to use it at a limited number of locations, and did so. I hope to have it by next weekend.
