Sell The Card, Not The Holder?!

We've heard it a million times - Buy the card, not the holder. I think this is most often referenced where the slab says, for example, "PSA 9," but the card appears to be a PSA 7 or 8. Now if you were selling that same card, would your asking price be the slabbed PSA 9 or the appearance of a PSA 7 or 8? I think we all know the answer to that one.

There are many people out there who do not buy the card and not the holder, so I think the price would certainly be higher than that of a 7 or 8 if the card is in a 9 holder.
