I Sold It not what it's cracked up to be...EVEN MORE PROBLEMS!!!

Last week I purchased what some would consider on here 80's wax junk and some sets from an I Sold It on Ebay auction. Today I get the package. To my dismay the cards were everywhere in the box. All of the factory sealed boxes were ripped. AND...heated about this one...the wax was resealed too. So, I call them and explain to them the negative impact of selling fraudulant merchandise. I told them that if I was not completely refunded I was calling their local police and filing charges. This was after I was denied compensation though. 2 minutes later I get a call back telling me everything has been refunded and I can keep the merchandise as long as I promise not to file charges.
Fishy....?

Pretty sad when someone wants to reseal that junk.
Is Gary on I Sold It also?
<< <i>I learned my lesson with "Isoldit" when I paid a small fortune in shipping for a couple cards...cards were not as nice as described either. Now when I see the Isoldit format when I open an auction, I bail... >>
Same here!
Please call the police and tell them the modern crap you bought was not in the condition you expected.
and tape the response.... I would love to hear it.

Loves me some shiny!
He did get the response he wanted though! Just because you say you are going to do it doesnt mean you really will. I see nothing wrong with a little "push" to get what you have coming back to you because of someone being fraudulent.
Sure the seller could have been a bit smarter and told him to prove it. Maybe it just wasnt worth it to him to be hassled. Or the seller was dumb enough to worry about the cops being called...maybe he already has some sort of felony or mail fraud?
Either way, Guru got a response. Sure he was lucky but he got it!
i do not think this is the norm , they were selling a large oddball collection which was from an honest consignor. I suspect most of the time when they sell collectibles , it is from shady characters trying to have someone without expertise dump their junk.
This reminds me of a situation with one of my local card shops I visit. I normally go there for supplies, and the owner knows I'm into vintage. The card shop mainly gathers to moderm collectors. Any ways, I go in one day and he tells me he bought a few hundred vintage commons in high grade from a walk in. Said he paid a pretty penny for the cards and wondered if I would be interested. I said sure and I started to go through the cards and quickly realized that just about every card had a micro flaw. The cards look like 7-8's at first glance, but in reality, they were mostly 5-6 range. Obviously someone that knew what they were doing dumped the cards on the shop owner
I felt bad for the card shop owner, I could tell he thought he had some true gems.

However selling items that are fraudlent is illegal so there is an actual crime there, they probaly called around and looked into the legalities of the problem and decided a refund would be cheaper for them in the matter. Does not matter if the item was 5 cents or 5000 dollars its still fraud.
Carew-Just because you think you are ABOVE collectors of modern "Junk" does not mean it is crap to all.

Mr. Carew4me, if you really are indeed the son of God, could I please PM you? I have a lot of questions that I would like an answer to and I'm not really wanting to wait around till the end of life for those answers? Is that okay? I was just wondering.
P.S.: That whole rising from the dead thing is pretty cool!

Back to what the thread was originally about, you certainly didn't do anything wrong, and the result was positive. And now we all know ISoldIt is bigtime caveat emptor

OK. I think rod carew is an idiot.
I do share some traits with my main man JC.
The main one is, I tell the truth. When I read that someone is "calling their local police and filing charges" I laugh my arse off.
Do as I said, call the cops, tell them an IsoldIt store ripped you off on Ebay. Tell them that while they DID send you the items pictured,
they were "everywhere in the box"
PLEASE RECORD THEIR RESPONSE. They are professionals, they care....YOU will be having your salad tosseD within 72 hours
Some of you clowns need to stop the "kick his a*s man" behavior, while you safely tucked in the crowd
I probably should not have said modern crap...that I do apologize for. (even though it was........wait for it.......wait......MODERN CRAP!)

Hmmm, I think he knew exactly what he bought , or brought out for you or someone like you that likes to look for vintage , he figures he'll move them on the less educated .
These guys are the used car salesmen of the sportscard/memorabilia industry and at the top of their game in the trade .
I had one guy rippin packs, pulling out anything good and sliding them back in the packs to reseal a few years ago, I had spent thou$and$ with this guy and never went back after that little humdinger . . .

As far as staying in the crowd and not whipping out my "I'm gonna kick your arse behavior"; well...I'm your huckleberry. 'Cause, that's just my game.
Maybe dvd's or music, but they don't have the expertise for collectibles or one of a kinds.
I called to leave a message there and someone picked up. The manager of course. She told me she was tired of dealing with the situation and that it stipulates in the auction that it was sold As Is. I told her that not including things like wax packs being resealed and not including missing cards and saying they were complete sets is pretty crappy. She told me to get over it and call a lawyer if I was going to be that pissed. I called her a b*tch and told her she wasn't worth the ground she was standing on and then hung up.
I shouldn't be suprised about this kind of stuff. I mean, I've had a pretty awesome buying streak for the last year without any hassle's. I knew it was coming sooner or later.
I filed a report with the BBB tonight online for there store though. So maybe some good will come of it. Who knows. Just kinda depressed that I got had.
I'd sincerely hope that after all that you'd at least leave a detailed NEG to warn other buyers about these thieves.

I was wondering about this, too. Didn't you get a full refund already?
Even so, it's very lame they'd screw over a buyer like that by misreprsenting the auction item(s). Sounds like it's luck of the draw with them.

contacting the BBB was a waste of time IMHO they have no power or authority.
Why haven't you left them negative Fb then?

So you go through all this trouble, calling them, cursing them out, calling the BBB, but won't warn others where it counts? I'm sorry, that's just lame, IMO.

they gave him a 100% refund? he is still calling them about being unhappy? he wont even leave a negative feedback after the calls?
I think if they gave a 100% refund they do not deserve a negative but I thought it was odd he was still calling them and throwing out vulgar names etc. after he got his money back?
Am I mistaken about the refund?
And even if you get a refund I can still think of situations where a negative is warranted. This being one of them.

If you respond professionaly to the neg then I guarantee it will not hurt you one bit.
Just because a seller refunds money does not make the situation right. Time lost, expectations not met, etc etc etc.
Steve
I see it a little different. I have 2700+ feedback (100% positive) and yes, I want to protect it. Nobody just gave that to me, I earned it over a period of a long time. Feedback rating is just like your credit rating. Both are a reflection of how trustworthy you are. You do want to protect your credit rating don't you? So why wouldn't people want to protect their feedback rating?
I believe 100% feedback rating helps me realize more of a profit (sorry for that dirty word) on my items. I use that to my advantage. I end every one of my item descriptions the same way, “Please check my perfect feedback and bid with confidence!” It works for me!
I have two ebay accounts like a lot of members do. Where most of those members do their buying and selling from different accounts, I do all of it from one account. My second account I have ONLY to give negative feedback. If a seller wrongs me, I just don't leave them feedback - I don't want that retaliatory feedback. That's where the second eBay account comes in. I just buy a cheap item from them, pay for it and when it comes in I blast them with the negative. They never know who did it or why. Kinda leaves them scratching their head and I get the same satisfaction.

Way to stick it to the man
Not sure I understand your thinking on that one. But if it works for you that is all that matters.
