Back to the Silver surfer...has any one actually found one in circulation?

I've been watching eBay and from the reports I read in Numismatic news and coin world and stuff they all seem to be straight from people who work for 20th Century Fox or something.

I'm just wondering if any ever actually got into circulation to be found? image

edit to add:

I went to a coin show yesterday and asked every dealer if they ever had or bought or saw a silver surfer coin. Not one had or did. I think 0 ever got into circulation and I can't believe no one sold any to dealers. do you think 40,000 is all there is? Less or more?

I saw the movie today and now I really want one. image

  • wasnt the number something like 50,000 coins? or was it just a trickle that made it in.

I bet that nearly all were diverted before they ever reached the general public. I suspect the movie promoters are none too happy about that, too.

    A quarter.

Well, that's all they're worth to me.

  • I got 2 in change the other day in Washington, DC. I don't think DC was on the distribution (not a state) so I guess it came in from Maryland or VA. It's cool and fills a hole in my 7070.

These Silver Surfer quarters were given to the employees of Fox Studios. My sister works for Fox, and management was giving it out for workers to give out as promotion of the new movie. So luck has it, my sister gave the quarter to her husband to show his colleagues at work. They went out to lunch, and he accidently put the quarter in the parking meter (somewhere in Glendale CA). So it will definately be circulation :-)

I found a similar sticker on a MO quarter that said "We'll remember in November" which I think was put on by the artist of a losing design who was PO'd badly. The sticker also has his design on it. --Jerry
