Huh - I was expecting to read a thread about hairlines from grit inside a used flip.

i truly think a majority of collectors operate alone and in the dark.
sad. this hobby is 1000 times more fun with peers, experts, beginners,
dealers, and etc... all conversing about coins.

this would not have happened if the poster did a tiny bit of research
or sought out a dealer.

because new flips have little or no PVC in them

Learned my lesson the hard way on this. Bought a BU roll of 49 S Cents. Guess avg. grade would be 5 RD. Forgot about them for 30 years and let them sit in the old PVC tube. When I took them out, I saw really nasty bright green globules on most of them.

It would be nice if the graders notified you of the PVC and gave you a choice of:

a) they send them back ungraded.
b) they charge a few $ for acetone rinse (with no liability) and grade them.

It would save postage and speed things up
