THE "MOST" popular collected type?

Not every kid--I didn't--but I will give you most of them. After that, my guess is Morgans.

1 in 10 people will tell you they collect the state quarters.... nothing else comes close IMO

My 1st thought was the State Quarters, but then I thought about it. People have been collecting Lincolns for 98 years, Statehoods for 8....

The most popular is the Morgan Silver Dollar. I know many people collect Lincolns and state quarters, but Morgans are the most popular. Just type Morgans in an ebay search field, then type the others. It is but one indicator, but will give one something to go on.

1) SILVER EAGLE CIRCULATION STRIKES
2) morgans
3) silver eagle proofs
4) statehood quarters
5)Lincolns

I seem to remember a thread on this in the last 6-9 months. The answer was cut and pasted from some well known coin magazine. I can't remember what the top 2 coins were but I remember being surprised that in the number three slot was Franklins.

Definitely Three Cent Nickel proofs. Can't imagine a child starting out in coins without a ravenous interest in this series.

Silver eagles are popular, but are easier to obtain in regestry quality. Morgans are not. I still stay strong on Morgans being number one.
