SCAN YOUR FAV CARDS HERE! SPORT OR NON SPORT! LETS SEE IT!!

For me it would be: 1961 Nu-Scoops Hank Aaron PSA 10 1/3, 1964 Topps Al Bombers PSA 9 1/33, and my pride and joy, 1975 Topps Dan Fouts #367 PSA 10 1/10. Also, 1977 Topps Star Wars Luke Skywalker #1 PSA 9 1/13 1977 Topps Star Wars Darth Vader #7 Full Color Proof 1/1 BVG 8.5 1/1. PSA doesn't grade the proofs, but it is very hard to get higher than a BVG 8, since proofs were handled so much. I don't care if it is BVG, it looks sweet holdered...........LETS SEE THOSE SCANS! Use my direct links, bigger scans than can be posted. http://www.mypicshare.com/do459ylvpic.html http://www.mypicshare.com/15tuf67qpic.html http://www.mypicshare.com/zb1t3ujtpic.html http://www.mypicshare.com/se622feppic.html http://www.mypicshare.com/473om4dcpic.html

    Dear HofAutos,

Now, that would be something. No, the only one I've ever owned is the 1984 Fleer Update Roger Clemens PSA 10. But if I could pick one, based upon eye appeal, it would probably be the Gretzky or the 1953 Topps Willie Mays.

    This one is my favorite,

Most of these are probably PSA 6 quality. These are some extra one's I have.

I'll have to scan up a couple of the better ones from my PSA set and post them. Maybe over the weekend.

    Nice quad card.

These kind of auto-cards always bother me for one reason......if you didn't know who's signatures they were, could you tell who signed them? What's with players who have actually attended a few college courses not being able to legibly write their own names? Do they sign their pay checks this way? I can see the NBA players, who go straight from H.S. to the pro's not being able to write, but college players to the pro's..... c'mon. Monkey's could sign their moniker more clearly.

I think it has nothing to do with education, all society is like that now. I work in a science company with more graduate degrees than those lacking 4 year degrees, and lots of the handwriting here is like that.
I think the problem is due to the fact that writing legibly was a focal point of elementary education in previous generations, its no longer like that since there is so much other stuff that has to be taught.

I think that's part of it but I think maybe part of it is the sheer number of times they need to sign their names. Making a check mark (vernand morency) or just slashes or whatever could be just laziness. Some of the others might be to show off the individuality and creativity.

Sure makes you appreciate the johnny benches of the world. I was going to say don drysdale, but I think more than half of his were secretarial.

My favorite card is from the 1961 Topps
set, which is the only set I'm putting
together. Only a few more cards to go!!

This is Hall Of Famer Hoyt Wilhelm, from
the very tough high numbers of that
year, but the reason I love this card is
that he is showing us his grip for the
knuckle ball which was his claim to fame.

He can show the knuckler grip because
every hitter knew it was coming anyway,
and they still couldn't hit it. It was all
the catcher could do to stop the ball
    from going to the backstop!!

Took a shot buying this almost 100 year old Tris Speaker pin! With over 3,500 of these 1910-12 Sweet Caporal Pins being graded at PSA, and only 4 pins getting the gem grade of PSA 10, I took the combination of Tris Speaker, HOF & PSA 10 to equal "a decent bet" at a little profit...

Figured I would enjoy this item for a while, then sell it? Will I make some $$$$ (as I paid $1750 for the item!)??? I don't know, but for now, I will not sell it for less than that! image

Pulled from a wax pack and graded by SGC before PSA was slabbing up the tallboys.

    Some other tallboys, ungraded.

Rookie card of Gus 'Honeycomb' Johnson which is Nm-Mint and the second year card of 'The Mad Bomber' Daryle Lamonica which looks 7 or 8ish.

Dueces, nice Bills collage. Where's your Billy Shaw RC? Or Dan Darraugh 1970 Topps RC? Remember that guy from William & Mary?

Thanks Card, This was just a small sample of Kemp and Lamonica memorabilia. I actually omitted 6 Lamonica cards by mistake.
I do have most Bills from the 60's including a sign photo of Shaw signed in the 60's. I do remember Dan Darraugh although
his time with the Bills along with Joe Ferguson's are easily forgotten. image

I grew up in upstate New York and Buffalo was considered the "home team", so we always got their games on television instead of GOOD games. I absolutely loathed the Bills of the Kelly era, which worked out well since I was a Cowboys fan and I think most of us remember the 'Boys back-to-back trouncing of the Bills.

If I remember correctly, didn't the Bills change their helmets from white to red so Ferguson could spot them easier and not throw so many interceptions? Perhaps that is local legend, but I know I heard that more than once. When you are changing your uniform colors so your quarterback doesn't throw so many interceptions, perhaps it is time to change your quarterback instead.

I just wanted to re-draw everyone's attention to this earlier post by onlychild on this thread, and recommend reading more about this beautiful card here. It's fascinating stuff.

This is my first post on the CU forums. I don't have a scanner, so I had to take a picture instead, but you'll get the point. I pulled this from a pack of '98 Elite that I purchased in trade for a Topps Gold Rookie of then Blue Jay hopeful Cory Patton at my neighborhood card shop. I was 14. It was pretty exciting, not many cards like this were being inserted in those days.
