Inspired by RYK's dirty gold .......... (Updated)

I normally don't buy off a picture especially in an NGC holder but I caved and hope I am not disappointed.
Just picked up my first O-Mint Half Eagle Liberty. I know it does not have the essence of the D mint but it's a start.
Until it arrives I would like to hear thoughts on originality or potential issues based on the Teletrade photo.
I do have to say I looked at every Heritage image of this date and mintmark for the same grade going back several years and only a couple looked un-touched. Most were dipped or dinged and did not look very good for the grade so again I hope this one was worth the rare splurge.

Well I finally took a picture of the coin in hand. Not quite what I expected as usually from a photo. There is quite a bit of noise in the fields. That said I still like it because it is unique and does not look like every other shiny gold coin. Tell me what you think.

in my collection.
1844O is the most common new orleans half eagle. you have hundreds
to choose from and you see one for sale on a weekly basis.
after viewing a metric ton of these 1844Os, i have to say yours
is a nice change of pace. i find it pleasing to the eye.
i hope it looks even better in hand.

Thanks, I agree it is the most common. Most of the AU half eagles I have seen of late are shiny and in the circulated grades that looks really bad as all defects are evident to the naked eye. Character is a difficult thing to look for in a coin.
I also notice that the photo seems to be a bit washed or brightened. What I am hoping is that the coin is a little bit darker in hand and I do believe that is what I will see.
