Well at least the Phils got out with a win today. That was good.

I have to admit, I was feeling sorry for those poor Phils, and actually found myself rooting for them....

I bet the Rockies will be a piece of pie tomorrow.

Be glad you got us when we were dinged up. Come September, we will actually have guys who can throw it over the plate.

There is still room to make up a few games before the break.

You spent all the effort you had for July and August just to pick up 2 games, and now with the Rockies killing you, you only have picked up
    1 game on us. LMAO.

We'll see who's laughing when the Mets clinch the NL East. But don't worry, JS, at least you've got football, oh wait, you're a Bucs and Criminoles fan, nevermind...

You can see the emotional effect between the Phillies and the Mets - the winner of the series seems to do poorly in the next series against whatever team they play.

Phillies are the team the Mets players fear. But the Phillies need to do better though in the second half as they've got three wild card team possibilities they have to pass, or of course beat out the Mets in the East. I think the Phillies can get there and then they'll beat the Mets for the NL pennant in the playoffs, if the Mets win their first playoff series which they probably won't because the Mets have no heart.

If this keeps up, we will have to change the name of the thread to the 4th place Phillies...
  • stevekstevek Posts: 29,033 ✭✭✭✭✭
Losing that game last night like that really ticked me off. A team can't squander opportunities like that and expect to be in the playoffs. Looks like the Phillies are gonna break my heart again this year...So what else is F*ing new?

It's a shame because I know the Braves have nothing, and the Pets have no heart - neither of those two teams are going anywhere even if they get into the playoffs.

But like an idiot I'll keep rooting for the Phillies. Why? I have no idea.

Pets fans starting to get a little nervous? I hear the New York City area drugstores are crowded with Pets fans buying drugs to help with their anxiety attacks. LOL

Well the Phils might not have enough time to catch the Pets to win the NL East, but we're definitely going to be in the playoffs. Playoffs here we come, World Series here we come, and beating Boston 4 games to 2 in the World Series here we come, then a parade down Broad Street here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • grote15grote15 Posts: 29,694 ✭✭✭✭✭
SteveK, put down that bottle and face reality...the Silliies will always be runnersup!!

Jerry - You'd just better hope that your no-heart Pets don't meet the hungry Phillies in the playoffs. Not that the Pets are getting in the World Series anyway because they will get beat in the playoffs by any other NL team, but the Phillies will just beat them up worse than any other NL team.

Your Pets are going Bye-Bye Jerry - just a question of when. No parade for the Pets...No Parade. HA!

as a mets fan... its time to face the music. in june we got our a$$es handed to us by playoff teams. we bounced back against the braves and owned them the last 6 games..

as for the sillies they = the old braves. they are kicking our a$$ in every aspect of the game! a lose today would be devastating! a win today and its all over we win the division no problems.

lets see how much heart my team has today. bc if they lose i will not be happy and my rants could get very bad!

but i have no hate towards phillies..I HATE THE BRAVES!

I'd love to see a Phillies - Mets playoff series. I can see it now in my crystal ball...Phillies pictures in the Mets fans siglines here. Ha!
  • stevekstevek Posts: 29,033 ✭✭✭✭✭
Kuhlmann - Remember that time you had because of a sigline bet which you initiated the terms of the bet, and lost the bet, you had an Eagles picture in your sigline for so long that some poster here really thought you were an Eagles fan! image

yeah i remember still puts a cramp in my knee!!! but i just cant make a sigline bet with my mets. as i am more of a mets fan then any other team. so i will not lay that curse bet down on them.. i am hopeful on sunday god will love the mets and let them win. bc the phillies lineup i can admit is pretty damn tuff.

but like i said before. phillies lay it all on the line vs mets. head to st louis and lose 2 of 3. been happeniong all year.

Mets amazingly have won more games by one run than any other team I can remember during the course of a season - remarkable really giving them credit where credit is due. I just have to wonder when that will begin to even out the other way, if it does even out.

For sure, will be a very interesting next two weeks. I'll be one happy camper to see the Phillies in the playoffs and if they win it then they win it, if they don't then they don't - I'll just be so glad to see them in the post season again for a change.
  • I don't think I have ever seen a team so psyched out by the opponent. Sure, in one game it's not unusual but to see it happen over two series (plus they were swept in another). I just hope they get their act together in the post-season.
