Questiion for Stone or savy board members

I got a PM stating he had some 66 high #'s for me and what would I give for them. He described individually(which I have the PM still).

I got the 7 high #'s and 2 of the 7 cards have creases and I PM saying 5 were ok but two have creases.

He is a big time 66 topps set guy that has PSA 10 quality vintage set then I get two cards that are VG at best and when I ask for the refund on the two cards I get the response well Morrellman and somebody else was satisfied so how do I know you are sending me the same cards?

Why would I spend 55.00 for 7 cards I needed only to get them and replace them with VG cards on two of them?

I have bought four lots and am usually ok but CREASES will not work for my sets.

I needed the 5 cards so what should I do?

This is part of the business that pains us that just do it for the love of the game.

I just want a 1960 topps and a 1966 topps set in EXMT condition and it seems to me

I better be prepared to buy two of everything and have one VG set and one EXMT set because on ebay it is about 25% accurate on the board it is 75% accurate grading.

The BST is populated with good/bad folks; just like EBAY.

If you paid with a credit card via PayPal, you can do a
chargeback with the credit-card company if PP will not
    help you.

it is just 18.00 and I paid 55.00 total for the lot so I can not charge back the entire amount.

I am more pissed because he acted as if I swamped his cards for mine.

Just check your cards BEFORE they go out to a customer and we would not have this problem.

Just a darn headache to build sets these days. Finding the cards is difficult but finding them graded accurately is down right tough!

Most people are accurate at grading others' cards, but when it comes to their own.....

    Hey Folks,
Not to get into a p*ssing match on board, the seller was me. The facts are that I had a 1966 raw set which I broke up when I started a graded set. I had some graded and some not. I was naive to have some of the graded as I did not understand centering issues etc. The cards for the most part had sharp corners but many were O/C which I fully disclosed when selling.

I have slowly sold off part of the set. I will drop names in this case both Winpitcher and Morrellman bought a number of cards from this set from me without complaints. I will humbly say that he gave me a small thank you on this board. I am conservative to the Nth degree when it comes to raw. I would not take money for a creased card. A corner may have a ding in it but again I fully disclosed it. I actually threw in a free card to Morrellman because it did not live up my selling standards.

I sold 1967's to Xbaggypants which were VG-EX. I described card in detail and he came back for a second sale without a hitch.

I may slam people on this board for many things like their man crushes, wanting to make a quick buck etc. but I believe in full honesty. Let me repeat that Mr. 1980scollector--I DO THINGS IN AN HONEST AND ETHICAL MANNER.

The cards were packaged securely and there were no creases in any cards when I sent them out. I will go to my grave knowing that. The fact that he claims not one but two of the seven were creased has no credibility.

All I will say is judging from previous posts by this seller that he is never going to be happy. Several of them are about unpleasant transactions, cases of doctored cards etc. I especially like this one ironically one year old today:

    Happy Birthday

This is NOT a case of Caveat emptor, this is a case of someone who expects more than what was advertised. I have in the past refunded money when I was wrong, but giving anything back in this instance would be foolish and giving in to whining.

So game ahead flame away, send more ignorant PM's. I am done with you.
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
The cards Frank sent me were as described. He, in PM's described each card in detail. I sent him a check, and before it cleared i had the cards. They were packaged great. Not sure what else to say. This was a 200.00+ deal.

    Steve

edited to add: I would hope that Frank refunds for the 2 cards as the buyer is unhappy with them. I would hope that had I was unhappy with any a refund would have been forthcoming to me.

Stone is out of town and I am taking over. That is my decree.

edited to an edit: frank seems 100% that he sent out crease free cards. how about refunding 9.00 then?

    Steve
    Good for you.

yep you got me czar! I am switching two high #'s on ya with creases for a whopping 18.00!

All I can tell you after your comments is this I RECIEVED YOUR CARDS 5 were as decribed TWO HAD CREASES and I do not care about the money what so ever but for you to act as if I am a thief and I thought you just made a mistake and overlooked the creases.

I think alot of people on here know me as NOT A THIEF!

I may have flaws but stealing is not one of them.

If you comments are true and you will go to the grave knowing those two cards were not creased just shows your pathetic narrow minded "IM RIGHT" attitude.

For the record YOU SOLD ME CARDS YOU described as Ex to EXMT range with the description of each card and they showed up at my house and TWO of the cards HAD CREASES and to that I swear on my twin sons lives.

Do I care if you did intentionally? No- Do I think you knew it? No

The way you handled it is hilarious over a 55.00 transaction!

It was 18.00 man! You are wrong about this situation and to say I would bait and switch two cards is too much for me to even comprehend!

It just shows the ugly pathetic side of this hobby!

Thanks for the 5 cards I needed and thanks for ripping me off and acting as if whatever you say is accurate.

Why not examine the cards and decide if indeed you made a mistake?

Why not at least believe perhaps I am not a 20.00 criminal!

win-it is not the whopping 18.00 or 9.00!

as a matter of fact if we can get a reciept where he donates 18.00 to St. Jude Hospital I will send the cards back to him.

It is the fact he claims such harsh accusations over his oversight!

Not that it is any of your business, because it is not but I sponsor a girl in India each month for $40 so she can go to school. I am no hero for doing this and I thank my lucky stars I live in a country where $40 does not mean the difference between getting educated or not.

czar- you are one piece of work!

I suggest you relax and just realize the almighty CZAR made a mistake. No need to call names and tell me to shut up or do anything ignorant that you might regret.

I just suggest all board members stay away from this guy because

    1) he cannot see two cards with creases in them of seven cards sent
    2) when you ask for the problem to be fixed he assumes you are a criminial and switching cards etc.

Talk about unprofessional- I guess because everybody in the steak house liked their steak mine must be good as well!

Gotta love the philanthropic twist here.

Can't say I have seen this on the board before.

You'll work it out gentlemen. It's not much money.

Not to be cruel but my mind is twisted. Why did I get a visual of a little Indian girl staring in wonder at the two 66 Topps in her hand? She thinks, "What, no Beckham?" Had to chuckle a bit.

You're a good man for sponsoring the child. More should do the same.

    Good luck to all.

I have been too busy working to read the boards much lately. I come back to this!? He said v. he said. You both lose. All for $18. I think 1980's should not have posted this and I really think czar should not have replied. Just my two cents. Good luck to both of you to deal with this and MOVE ON!

this guy is cracking me up!

I have this crazy idea? If a buyer is unsatisfied with your worthless creased cards you give them an opportunity to send them back? Call me crazy but that is just an idea

or go get your prescription checked grandpa because I can assure you I do not have time to go buy creased cards with the exact centering as your two cards to send back.

here is his description on the two creased cards

    from blind eye frank-

I also have the Tiger Team card in PSA 7 for $100.

I have building this set in PSA 9 or better (I have 39 10's) and am #10 on the registry. I tell you this NOT to be a bragger, but to give my experience when pricing this set. Beckett's is a guide but there are cards that are in reality easier and more difficult to find.

Whatever you decide I wish you good luck.

    Thanks,
    Frank

tommorrow I will get them online for you!

<<Questiion for Stone or savy board members>>

I'm still struggling with the title. It either implies that in the absence of a reply from Stone, replies from savy board members would be welcomed, or that Stone and savy board members are mutually exclusive, or both.

Not sure that I'm savy, but I am a board member. I am not Stone. Where is the old man anyway?

Winpitcher- let me know your address and you can take a look for yourself at the cards I recieved!

1980's in my first post I said the Frank should refund you for the 2 cards. I believe that you are unhappy with them. It does not matter if they are creased or not. I was under the impression that when i dealt with Frank (or anyonefor that matter) that if I am unhappy I can return the cards.

I then when seeing how adamant frank was that he did not send creased cards that maybe you two could split the difference.

It is very possible that he missed the creases, it is also possible that they creased in transit.

I still say that you and he should work it out.

Frank, sigh, you should just accept the 2 cards back and refund the 18.00 Goodwill goes along way and I am sure others will then not hesitate to trade with you in the future.

Bottom line guys make sure you have a refund policy in place before you consumate a deal.

I'm gonna need to see a scan of the creases, and also a scan of the cards Steve and xbaggypants received. A scan of the $18 would help too. Finally, if 80s could re-enact the scene of him opening the package to see the creased cards, then take a picture of his reaction, then scan the picture that would help.

I did check previous PM's to see if he at any time said if you are unhappy I offer a refund. However, it is really not the money but the way he treated me when I PM'd him asking about the two cards. I paid pretty decent price for TWO CREASED high #'s and both are visible to me through the top loader. Also, WIn did your cards have penny sleeves as well or just the card in a top loader? mine came with no penny sleeves but these were packed well other than that so I think he just overlooked these two in the hundred or so high #'s he had!

who knows and wish I could just be believed when I say I got the items(could have just said I never recieved item if I was some crook).

I just asked for advice from stone about recieving some creased cards for my 66 topps set and the seller got on here acting a little weird. I did not mention his name or anything.

I just wanted some guidance on just to forget it or what. I was pissed because he acted as if I switched his EXMT cards for VG cards.

It was such a crock. WHy not just say dude I am not giving you your money back?

anyway, you guys don't need to give us such a hard time when we are just asking for help.

The chain of evidence has been compromised by allowing the cards to sit in a car unattended for hours.

If the crease doesn't fit, you must acquit. image

The damaged cards in question must be returned to the seller post haste. A youngster in India eagerly awaits.
