Congrats on the Evans... Given that there have been 2 7's and 2 6's in the past three weeks, patience paid off... I know Joe just put up a Girard PSA 8 if you're interested.

Just won the last card I needed for 100% for my set - Earl Girard.

Now, it's time to start on the upgrades!
  • Congrats. Girard is a toughie in any grade. Doesn't 100% feel great!image

Congrats on finishing a very challenging set.
I had to sub a raw Girard to fill that slot, dosen't come up alot and when it does there are multiple bidders for it.
    Enjoy!

Was able to pick this up to add to the collection.

Just need to find the football specific wrapper, now... And the White Whale of White Whales, an unopened pack.

Regardless, at least the display box now has company...

Finally getting around to some upgrades...

Using an old VCP scan of the exact same card. The seller's scan was lame.

  • Very nice card! Ready to sell your PSA 6? I have been doing a little upgrading myself....

Congrats and welcome to the club. I think I may have sold you a few along the way.

Isn't the Chuck Bednarik RC about the toughest card in the set. How do you tell the orange background from the yellow? I just got one back from PSA that I bought as orange but it came back as yellow. Looked orange to me.

  • Shouldn't all the cards in the basic set be included in the new composite for the master set? How did the Gilmer Variations not get included?image

Nice set - I was the underbidder on it. I think you did very well on it.

  • Stunning 48 leaf box! Definitely my first time seeing one on the web. Does anybody know if there are any unopened 48 leaf packs known to exist?
  • Love it

A bit of a sad day, as my 1948 Leaf set was just shipped out to Brent at PWCC for his Auction #8 later this fall. It's been fun, but time to let it go. The set will be broken up and sold individually, in case anyone is interested in specific cards.

Oh wow... That Luckman is off the charts. I wish I was in the position to start picking some back up....

Thanks, that one is special. When I was building my set, I subbed 7-8 Luckmans for grading, at one point I think I was personally responsible for 10% of all the existing PSA 5s. This one I bought mail order sight unseen and had it graded. Still the nicest centered Luckman RC I've ever seen.

I've been away from posting for a while. Sold off all my Clemente cards a few years ago and recently all my 1st series 1952 Topps baseball.
My new adventure is the 1948 Leaf Football set. I already have most of the 1st series. Only a few PSA graded though. Once PSA opens again for grading, looks like I'll have to start sending a few in. I'll complete that, and move on to the 2nd series. The more I research about this set, the more I like about it. The variations are also very interesting. Stay healthy!

Hey Moose! Rocco! Help the Judge find his checkbook, will ya!
