And this is the link I sent him by email -

This coin shown is a non-deceptive reproduction of the sort sold at Massachusetts Visitor's Centers in a set for $3.

I'm glad you wrote that, CCU, because I simply didn't have the heart to mention it after I saw the low quality of the piece.

Sorry cant give you weights etc, the coin is in a safety deposit box due to
its rarity. I cant give you a value but hear around $175,000 plus. Mine is
    anacs certified au.
    Respectfully,
    Bill

I'd suggest you bring the coin in hand to an expert in Colonials for an opinion. But it sounds like there's a high probablility that it's a modern reproduction from the late mid-20th Century (before they mandated that "COPY" be stamped on reproductions).

If I had a dollar for every piece I've seen made from the precise same mold as the coin posted, I'd be retired by now. It is an extremely common copy.

Looks like a cheap, modern reproduction. Why all the hub-bub?

Wonder if whoppy33 still has his "ANACS certified" Massachusetts penny in the safety box or if he sold it for $175,000........ image

I think he meant to say it was "ANAX certified" and worth 175 Iraqi Dinars.
