'prime focal areas' and grading

this seems like a lot of hits/ticks along Liberty's body to still receive a MS67 grade. Can a coin have this many hits in a prime focal area and still deserve an MS67?

i don't know... but other than that... wow... very sharp strike... feathers on legs sharp... head sharp... but those hits on liberty would bother me.

A true collector would mind but someone who doesn't know the difference will want it.

Sometimes the other attributes of a coin will give it a little bump. For example, PCGS loves eye popping luster and is known to bump a coin because of it. Also, there's a big emphasis on the number of hits in the fields on Walkers. That one appears to have very clean fields.

It's P mint coin. They're known for good strikes.

kinda the thing that skews the 'registry game'. some sets have PQ coins for the grade, while other sets seem to be make up of all borderline coins (C coins) of the same grade that they purchased cheaper.

Since I do not sell coins, send it to me, I will ensure it is not allowed back on the market. It's a terrible job, but someone has to do it. image Cheers, RickO

No offense to al410, but I have to agree with Leo. There are enough hits that they would always be a distraction every time I looked at the coin. I would eventually regret owning it I think.

Not my idea of a 67, regardless of mint lustre and strike. i'd call it a 65 and probably would never have the chance to buy it at that price anyway.

The head, chest and arms all look pretty clean. Given what you've pointed out along her hip and the trailing section of her skirt, though, I would pass in hopes of finding another one. With 399 others in this grade, I think those chances are pretty good.

Some or most of those tics appear quite minor. It's also hard to distinguish actual hits from weaknesses in the skirt lines with the fuzzy photograph.
