I can't believe this thread is still getting posts.
Unethical behavior in this hobby, in my opinion, consists of:
-card doctoring, trimming -opening and resealing wax packs and selling them as unopened -searching packs for inserts then reselling those packs without the key card(s) inside
-paypal fraud -renegging on a purchase -charging buyers fee's for accepting paypal -breaking open slabs then resealing them with a lower condition card in place (see WIWAG scandal)
-A buyer purchasing a factory sealed set, busting out the best cards then shipping it back to the seller and doing a paypal chargeback as 'not as described' (it happened to me about 18 month's ago)
-holding feedback hostage (although I know this is a decision some sellers make for obvious reasons) -leaving unjust retailitory feedback out of spite. -over grading, not disclosing a card's problems, ie: creases (mostly a raw card issue) -sellers not disclosing shipping costs upfront -sellers charging more for insurance than actual cost (I'm sure this will keep the posts flying) -poor packaging of items (maybe not having to do with ethics just plain laziness) - buyers claiming they 'never received the item' when you have them signing for the item thru sig. confirmation. -sellers charging sales tax then pocketing it.
These are just a few off the top of my head. But I certainly wouldn't put increasing shipping from $3 to $4 among this unethical behavior list. It's a business decision based on increased costs. It's called inflation.
If you sell on ebay or any venue, you must make a business decision of how much to charge for S+H. If you disclose this upfront for the buyers, I think that's all you can do.
No one's putting a gun to anyone's head of having to shop with any particular seller. We're all free agents and can decide to pass on one seller if we feel they're 'overcharging or gouging on the shipping'.
I'd certainly be happy to offer free shipping if some of you guys on the boards would mail me a check every month to cover all my business expenses I incurr from my sales. Lol.
Lee, no hard feelings to you either. I just don't like being called names for making a simple statement. I respect your point of view and opinions on this topic. We just agree to disagree.
My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)
Personally I don't mind the post office - tho I understand they're in all kinds of fiscal dilemmas - money problemos all over the place.
So, the Prez says that he wants the Govt sponsored health care plan to compete with the other companies.
Someone asked if that's fair competition?
He says: Ya got FedEx, UPS...they're doin OK - even tho they compete with the PO - in fact it's the PO that's in trouble.
Talk about putting your foot in your mouth?
So, this is what he proposes:
We're gonna put a health care admin. program into effect [which could wind up in a single payor system with no private insur. comp's] and IT'S gonna do to you what the post office has done?
