Question about PCGS onsite Grading

I have a 1929 $5 Indian Head that I want to get graded on site. Do you think this is something they would do on site or would they need to take it back to the "shop"

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then question the manner in which I provide it. I prefer you said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand to post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!

The stuff that doesn't need to be researched. Your coin falls within the category.

Regular issue is defined as coins that are not extremely esoteric, a few-of-a-kind, an unusual error, an ultra rare variety or any coin that may require extensive research to grade and/or attribute. Your 1929 G$5 is definitely a regular issue.

Wow! And I thought only NTC and ACG offered that service.
<< <i>On-site grading tends to have one nasty problem: Demand for the service often exceeds the amount of time available for the graders to grade... which means that PCGS often refuses to accept submissions after the first or second day of the show. (A ton of coins are submitted before the show ever opens to the public.) >>
I wonder how this affects consistency in grading.

Hi Morganmaniac,
That's a great, rare coin but one that the PCGS graders can handle easily on-site at shows. As others have mentioned, its a good idea to get your submission in as early as possible to avoid getting shut out. Generally, however, we always try to accommodate same-day-service orders at shows.

Actually, considering PCGS limits the number of submissions suggests they are aware of the potential of this problem. Otherwise, you'd have graders handing out wholesale grades in an attempt to keep up with submissions.
