Here is my auction:
My eBay auction
Here is a fraudulent auction:
Copycat eBay auction
So I report the fraud to eBay, claiming that they stole my pictures and description. Here is the eBay reply:

Well, at least I "convinced" the scammer to cancel their own auction.

<< <i>You got that response because the thief resized your image. I've run in to the same thing - numerous times. I've resized my own images to the size used by the thief and sent them to eBay in order to get the auctions shut down.

Very clever.
<< <i>That's like having two auctions going for Picasso's original "The Scream" portrait and Ebay saying having both up for sale is just fine.

Should be Edvard Munch

This convinces me that ebay has NO common sense......
The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the listing.
"Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working" Pablo Picasso
some numbnut gave you a wrong "automated" repsonse
i'd be pissed as hell and flattered, both at the same time, thankfully it is no longer there. there should be something that eBay should do about zero feedback new ebayers even putting up an item of this type it ought to go through a review process before it gets posted. sure let them sell their old jeans and hand tools and yarn
you do desreve a better response than what you got as well as an apology from eBay.

Never view my other linked pages. They aren't coin related.
<< <i>Picasso's original "The Scream" >>
Picasso?
Edvard Munch painted 5 or 6 version of that picture. (So eBay could actually end up with more than one genuine artwork for sale...)
Perhaps a better artwork to use for that example would be Michelangelo's Mona Lisa

<< <i>Can't you imbed your name and copyright info into the photos? Is the EXIF data stripped when you resize it? I'm going to toy around with this. The only other thing you could do would be to include a transparent copyright symbol on the coin itself, which of course would be somewhat distracting. I use a program called iWatermark for copyrighting photos visibly. It's not necessary because you can do the same thing in Photoshop, but iWatermark is so much easier and intuitive. iWatermark is a Mac program.

Good idea, I'll probably start doing that - putting a "watermark" in the images. I write image processing software all the time, so I could write a program to add a watermark to every image in a folder automatically, for instance.
