All gone

The last of the snow is all gone now and the underbrush is budding out into small leaves already. I'm hoping this weekend I'll get out to those places I've mentioned here before.
Phut, are you up to it?

Well the snow does not last forever contrary to what some may believe. It was 84 here yesterday and near 80 today. The snow melt in the mountains is making the rivers rise but not to flood stage.

  • It's supposed to be 90° here today. I haven't even gotten my MD permit yet this year.

MD permit? Where do you need one of those? First I have heard of such a thing. Cheers, RickO

Yesterday and today were near perfect Maine May days. Sunny, warm and no black flies!

I live in Roseville California. A yearly MD permit costs $5.00. Really, it's to make sure that you sign that the city isn't responsible if you get hurt and to tell you to fill your holes.

I don't mind. Sometimes I just strike off into the Sierra Nevadas between here and Reno and search around. I haven't found anything but a key, a Budweiser can and eight buckets of bullets and casings.

Thanks COTC...never heard of a MD permit before...looks really like just another revenue scheme. However, it also lends a bit of legitimacy to the practice... Cheers, RickO
