I bought 1 1984 Topps football rack pack last month and pulled 2 Marino rookies, 2 Stephenson rookies and a Dickerson Instant Replay from it.

I've ripped it all....so not sure where to start but two stand out:

Topps Chrome Gold Refractor Dwayne Wade rookie. Pulled right after product hit the stores....Put it on ebay and within one day had 25 offers to close early...LOL!! The guy that offered $150 to close early won with a high bid of $485. I bet I could get $1000+ for it now, hehe.

I also pulled a Shaq Beam Team when those were going crazy. I was about 25 and doing shows while in college. One guy came in and bought every Shaq card and wax box with Shaq in it....made my day, over $2000 sale with almost 40% profit. That's a lot of beer to a college kid!!

$20 wax box of 1982 Topps, pulled 4 Ripken rookies. I later sold them raw for $100, 75, 75, and $25 each.

2003 topps heritage willie mays real one blue ink valued at 200 dollars...still have it.
2006 topps heritage black refractor barry bonds which i sold for BIN of 224.99.....turned the cash plus 50 bucks (total 275) into a 1968 topps Super Stars (mantle, mays, killebrew) card 50/50 centered psa 8 (valued at 350).
  • I bought a 2001 Game Used Edition box, 2nd pack I pulled a Mantle G/U jersey (#'d to 50, I believe) that would be the best pull from a pack and that box. 5th pack I pulled an Ichiro rookie card (#'d to 500). Pretty good box for $90.

My best pull was from a box of 2002 Upper Deck Sweet Spots Classics. Pulled a Mickey Mantle Game used pants card SP/53. BV at the time I pulled it was $500. Today it is $300. I recently donated it to Bunker for JDRF.

About 6 months ago I opened a couple of 1980 Topps super cello packs and pulled a PSA 9 Henderson and several low pop PSA 10s.

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
  • I found a pack of 1965 Topps FB at an estate sale... opened it and pulled the Joe Namath rookie.... submitted and came back a PSA 9!

... well, not really but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

  • No lie . . .

1976 after a card show I opened ONE (1) Topps wax pack that had three (3) Hank Aaron cards. Again, no lie. I've never seen this type of collation since.

During the height of ShaqMania - these were the two biggest cards:

    image

Both the Skybox NBA Draft and the Hoops Magic All-Rookie Team cards - from what I understood at the
    time - were "case cards."

So, in a case of 20 boxes - only ONE existed. I bought a box of each and got really lucky!

This is just a guess but I think at one point they were selling in the 250$ range?

My best pull financially was a 1981 Donruss Golf Floyd. Bought the pack for a buck or two a few years back. The card graded PSA 10 and I sold it for $1,025. When I sold it on ebay, I was watching the bidding at the end, and could not believe it when the bidding went from $270ish to $1,025 in the last ten seconds.

My best is a 1978 Topps Eddie Murray rookie that is the best centered Murray I have seen yet. It came from a full 3 box rack case. It now sits in a PSA 9 holder but boy oh boy do I feel like cracking it image

  • I got a Nolan Ryan/Roger Clemens dual auto /25 from the first series of Playoff Prime Cuts baseball. Sold it when the singles were still hot and got $390 for it. With concerns to baseball, DLP products were always the best gamble... unfortunate that they can only do football now image

I remember being really excited when I pulled a Juan Gonzalez FDP card back in 1992...back when he was on track for the HOF, and winning MVPs like it was his job...wish I sold it then.

My best pull has to be what I got out of three packs of 86 Fleer Basketball back then. For a grand total of $1.50, plus tax I pulled a Jordan, Ewing, Barkley, Bird, Erving, and Dumars...Dumars and Erving came back PSA 8's...the others going in to PSA soon...
  • First off I'm old, and have broken product for 50 consecutive years. I open wayyy too much now.
I would assume I've pulled at least 500 Mantles between 58 and 69.

My best pull was buying a box of cards. A box of 1986 Fleer basketball for $18 and selling the singles for $$$$. Those were the days!
  • Back in the heyday of 1986 Topps football, I think I snared like 7-8 Steve Youngs and Bruce Smiths each . 2-3 Jerry Rices. I think I also got 17 Buster Rhymes that year too! I probably should go take them all out of the shoebox now.
