What do you carry as a pocket piece???

I carry a couple mercury dimes and a pocket full of Sacs and GW dollars.

    Love the 1885-CC Morgan
  • A couple of Sacs since 2000 when I got them at the bank when they first came out ... I actually like the way they wear... they develop a real nice patina ... If I had a camera I'd take some pics ... I'm 'old-fashioned' and use an HP scanner ... doesn't show color all that well ... image

A 1987-S half. Found it in a roll of halves so I figured why not. I put a couple of scratches on the high points just to monitor the wear progress.

Common date SAE. But only when I'm wearing jeans that have the little bonus pocket (usually in the right hand hip pocket). That's about 80% of the time.

You know, carrying around four Morgans in your pocket is heavy! It's easy to understand why paper currency became preferred by most folks.
    When in doubt, don't.

A silver coin always makes a good pocket piece. These wear down quite nicely.

1894-o Morgan Dollar - the goal is to turn it into a P01 - it is probably an AG3 right now borderlining on FR2.

  • 1998 SAE that I had in my collection. It had toned black, poor storage? (Considering all the rest of the SAE's in the album are still blast white, I think not.)

Anyway, when I pull out all my change from that pocket to look for exact change at the store or wherever, people get really excited to see that "coin" up close. Not many people even know they are minted. I've had some older people recognize the obverse Walker design. I know it is not really a coin, but people get such a kick out of seeing it.

Also, I don't understand how some people, people who have obviously never tried it, can comment that carrying a few Washington $1 coins is too heavy. I'd say that three GW$'s equals one SAE in weight. I have never had a problem with the weight in my pocket and I usually have 5-6 quarters, 3-4 nickels and dimes and 4-6 cents in the same pocket along with a pocket knife, pill box and sometimes a USB memory key.

A couple rolls of SAEs to impress the chicks.

Of course not. I always have a loupe in my pocket in case of a VAM emergency. Have done a Sac and GW dollar on occasion but with very little dedication.
